Anything that gets your heart rate elevated is going to help!

Swimming and exercising in water is great because you're getting your body moving, with the resistance of the water, but with almost no strain on your joints!

My opinion - keep swimming baby!!

I think swimming is great excercise. Says me, who has had access to a pool for nearly a year now and has never gone in!!

The only reason I can see against it, is that it is relatively low intensity, so you're burning less calories. Plus, I think low intnesity excercise tends to make you hungrier afterwards. I notice this after going for a long walk, I am ravenous. But after a run or a gym workout, I'm not as hungry. Mind you I still eat lol, but I'm not absolutely starving....

Swimming is fantastic exercise - great for toning, improving cardio fitness and contributes to weight loss (with a calorie controlled diet - sound like a disclaimer, eh? :P) And as Ali says, it's non-impact on your joints.

Double check this, but I think swimming for 30 mins at a slow/moderate pace burns around 300 calories which is nothing to sniff at :)
Just keep moving! And don't be lazy...

Swimming is one of best exercises, your entire body is moving. I don't understand that guy. You keep swimming, you burn more calories swimming than running
