Wii Fit

Postby court » Thu Jun 11, 2009 4:49 pm

Ok so i have a Wii at home but I dont have Wii Fit...

I do alot of working out, bike riding, running etc and consider myself pretty fit  blah blah...but with this cold weather hit, riding my bike to the gym is seeming less and less appealing!! We are thinking about setting up a gym in our garage with free weights, kick bags, plus my x trainer but my q is would getting wii fit be of benefit as well?? How much of a workout is it?? Would it get my heart rate up, what does it involve??? What are the different "games" i can buy?

Thanks guys - any advice would be great! I could get up early in the mornings and work out before work for an hour at least if it is really a good workout! :D

It sucks that u have to unlock workouts, i get so bored with the original boring workouts that i never stay on long enough to unlock the better ones!

honestly it isn't that hard to unlock.... I think every 10 mins you do you unlock a new thing.... if you want it for getting your heart rate up then it isn't for you though .... but if you want to tone and work on core strength then it is great to have.... also when you unlock the "free step " part you can just do the step thing while you watch the TV.... which i love as a difference to my treadmill, and after 10 mins my butt is burning which is a great feeling. But I haven't tried any of the other games out for the wii fit, there is my fitness trainer, Gillian from Biggest losers one- heard it was a hell of a work out...so that might be good for you, or wii active which apparently is very good too.

lol my partner did some reaserch on the net and found that you can cheat by putting the balance ball game where you have to put it in the hole on while you watch tv and just keep clicking "A" every 30 seconds or so... as it counts the 30 seconds you have to get the ball in the hole as a minute played if you fail... so do that while you watch TV for a hour and you will unlock 5-6 things... you just need to have your feet on the board which if you sitting on the lounge is easy

i unlocked the advanced step, free step, boxing and a few others in the first day (took 2 hours though) but really court, if you're already saying you're fairly healthy, wiifit will be a waste for you.

I agree there, wii fit is good to get you started but once u have unlocked everything and if you already have a reasonable level of fitness you will get bored with it. At first I thought some of the workouts were hard eg. 10 mins hula hooping or the 30min free step but now after only 3 weeks I breeze through them and want something where I can work up a sweat and feel the workout the next day. Its good fun at first and good for motivation, just not a serious exercise tool. I'm going to buy the extension feet to make it higher and hopefully that will make the workout a little more intense.

lol no gordz, I love it too. The burn u get after doing situps/crunches feels great, it immediately makes your abs feel tighter its like u can feel the six pack ready to emerge under all that flubber. The jack knife challenge on wii fit is ok, except the trainers take it way too easy at first and the fact u don't really need the balance board. I'd love to get one of those big gym balls but the kids would drive me nuts playing with it so I'll just stick to doing them on the weight bench for now. Actually I think I'm going to go and do some right now

you are indeed a machine julz. i'm sprawled in bed right now, the treadmill is folded upright with a cooling fan on it and i'm down for the night. had a terrible sleep last night, my little boy had diahorrea and decided to deposit it on the carpet, so another broken sleep, and an hour late to work. wow, 'today' was so boring this morning I mustve fallen back to sleep watching it.

nah he's crook with something, he just had another fit so i put him in the shower and he pissed himself, so i gave him a wash, dried him off and put him out in the kennel for the night. He usually snuggles with me, but i don't need another night like last night :|
