Going to change my weightloss plan

Postby prin » Sun Jul 26, 2009 10:10 am

After being on CS for 7 months and being very close to my goal. I have decided to change to "Living the GI diet" at the end of this week. Planning to go on the weightloss part at first then maintenance, as this is the way I plan to eat for the rest of my life. I lost weight sucessfully on this a few years ago but did not keep it up. But it is totally different to what I am doing now and has a much higher carb intake
I was wondering if anyone has made this change and if so how did you do it and what effects did you have. I know that I will probably gain a bit at first but would appreciate any help at all to make the transition as painless as possible.. And would be really interested in your experiences.

yup been there done that! from my experience I gained for the first couple of weeks and now its coming off again really well- im not very restrictive in my diet compared to when I was on cs and im still losing- it really is all about finding the right balance and seeing what works for you. The low gi is a great way to go for sure, for me I use calorie king religiously and im on roughly 1500 cals per day and about 160grams of carbs which is a big step up as you know- and you know what it works! Im now at the gym and I love it and I find it has given me the boost I needed- and guess what no more toilet problems- one thing i dont miss from cs is having to consume so much extra fibre as its all in my diet now and Im regular as can be.... tmi i know lol. let me know how your getting on! :)

Thanks for that, good to know we are following the same path, I used the Low Gi diet about 5 years ago and lost well on it, I use the Rick Gallop Books. I found it was good and this time do not intend to stray. Good to know the toilet problems will go away too. Was a bit worried about gaining as I changed over but as you are ok and losing again I know I will be ok.

Changing over was going really well until yesterday, my weight was staying the same and I was feeling good. But then I spent the whole day on the loo and lost 1.2kg in 24hrs. Feel really weak and washed out today. I am going to be really careful what I eat today. Just hoping its a one off, I know I will probably regain some of that huge loss.

you may find that its a good thing after all the issues you have had, try and keep the solid food to a minimum like have veg soups and that sort of thing for a day or two and plenty of fruit and yoghurt. I think that it would have been a result of the increase in fibre in your diet which can only be considered a good thing. best of luck to you and its very possible you wont put it back on as that was allready in your body to begin with when it shouldnt have been

Thanks for that, will have some yoghurt and fruit now and see how I go. I think it is probably due to the increase in fibre intake and hopefully it wont last too much longer.

It been a rough 10 days changing over eating plans but hopefully the worst is over now with my weight back down to its lowest point today. I was begining to think that I had done the wrong thing as my weight went haywire, up more than down. The problems with the loo seem to be getting a bit more normal now too turns out I had compacted bowel. I felt that I was eating too much and kept reading my book to check on myself. But all is good now and I am looking forward to reaching my goal.

Well done prin! :D

I am very interested in reading your progress as I am currently on the CS program after having success with it two years ago & I really want to change to a low GI plan after I have lost some weight on CS.

I mainly want to change over simply because I believe the low GI plan is a sustainable eating plan that can be continued throughout your life & it's something I want to be able to do eventually, without having to go on another 'diet'. :D

So it will be interesting to see how you are going with it & hopefully soon I will be able to make the switch too!

Best of luck to you Hayley! It can be a bit of a challenge both mentally and physically coming off the shakes, I know thats what happened to me, but you definatly can do it. I just watch my cals now and carbs moderatly. Keep us updated on how your going to hun

It was quite a challenge coming off the shakes, I had become so dependent on them, but now I wonder why. It took a while for my body to adjust to the extra fibre and carbs I was eating, but now after three weeks my body has adjusted and I only gained 1kg in the process. My weight began to drop last week and in the past 6 days I have lost 1.1kg to be within 200grams of my goal, now I have now decided to take off an extra couple of kilos.I feel great. I am using a Low Gi diet plan and using a calorie counter programme, it is all good and a very susbtainable way of eating. I am actually eating more food than I did on CS and feel so much better for it.

Hi all just an update in case anyone is interested, I am going really well have just lowered my goal weight by another kilo. I have had great success this week after changing a couple of things I was eating slightly and have dropped 900grms in 3 days putting me just 100grms above my original weight. I have been using a low Gi diet plan and am calorie counting with it. At 65 I am very happy with my results.
