attractive gym clothes vs change of clothes

Postby madeline » Wed Sep 12, 2007 3:49 pm

For those of you who work in casual environments (i.e. non-corporate) or go to uni, do you guys wear gym clothes all day when you go to the gym, or do you change into another outfit? Gym clothes are just so comfy, but there is a massive difference between what I usually wear, and what I wear to the gym... and I don't want 80% of my wardrobe gathering dust just because it's a gym day (which is 5 days of the week!). My uni bag is heavy enough already without an extra pair of trainers and gym clothes stuffed into it!

How do you guys mix fashion and practicality when you have somewhere else to go after the gym?

When I go to the gym I do one of a few things

If I am going to the gym first then doing anything else then I dress in gym clothes and change when I am done.

If I am going to the gym last then I bring my gym clothes and change into them

If I am just going to pop into the shops for bread and milk or similar before or after gym then I don't bother to change and if I am going straight home after gym then I don't bother to change(I wait till I get home for my shower)

Well I cant wear gym clothes to work, so if i am at the gym at lunch I change into gym clothes and change back out.

If I am going at night, i'll wear leggings and a tank top thingo, and wear a jacket as well. So if I need to go anywhere its ok. I dont really care about how I look lol, I go into Coles all the time all sweaty!

So Madz im not at all fashion savy so i could be WAY off the mark on this one, and i dont know how you dress anyway, but instead of lugging around the big bag to uni maybe you could find a way to wear half your gym clothes to uni, like maybe jeans and a casual top that you could still work out in?? I cant be of anymore help cos i only work out at home!! :D

Well I'm in the enviable position of having an office, but I ride in in trackies etc, then shower and change, then change to ride home again. There's no way I would wear my every day clothes to ride in, too uncomfortable and they could get damaged by bike grease and maybe me falling off, and by the time I have ridden in I'm too sweaty to stay like that all day.

If space is an issue, perhaps you could get a locker?? I know you can hire lockers at Utas, I bet other places have them too

I wear sports clothes when I'm going to the supermarket or to the shops. But I live in bogan central here in the west of Melbourne, so I can get away with it. I am yet to venture out in moccasins though

But yeah, I wear my gym gear to the gym and that's all. Reason being they are gross and sweaty and smelly!! I can get up to 5 days wear out of the same sweaty outfit (don't tell anyone I said that!!!) I am gross :(

I've been taking real light clothes to change into lately (shortie-shorts, ribbed singlet, ankle socks and trainers today) then wearing the gym stuff home. I also made sure I was wearing light stuff during the day, just ballet flats and skinnies, etc so that I don't have to lug 100kgs home in my bag

I might invest in some hot trainers (I want silver and baby pink) so they could possibly be worn with my usual stuff. I know, I know... another excuse to shop :D

Hey Maddi!

Adidas have some really nice sneakers, prob not best for running but would be good for walking, cross trainer and bike. They are white and have 3 pink velcro straps (they sound daggy but are awesome).

Ive seen them at Harris Scarfe (department store), and they're like yoga shoes.
