The scales are driving me mad!!

Postby lisa » Sat Sep 15, 2007 8:28 am

Well...two days in and im going well. My only problem is the scales. I have this horrible habit of jumping on them at least 3 times a day. Does anyone else do this. Any suggestions for breaking this habit???? I get so disheartened when I dont see a lot of change (which I know is crazy to expect change on a daily basis!!

Cheers

omg yes it can be stressful and you feel like all your hard work isnt paying off! firstly you should only weigh yourself first thing in the morning after the loo and naked before you eat breakie. a lot of personal trainers suggest weighing in monthly or quarterly to get a more accurate result. maybe you can get a family member or friend to hide the scales or take them to their place and just get them back one day a week? or if theyre battery operated take the battery out and give it to hubby to hide or something. i put my scales in the bottom of the linen cupboard :P

What Kate said is perfect.

The more often you weigh yourself, the more disheartened you will be. Weighing yourself only twice a week should most likely lead to a pleasing result (because it is more accurate).

Maybe you should weigh yourself each Monday and Thursday morning? You should see a pleasing difference that way!

Best of luck,
Lauren.

i have a habit of getting on the scales every day as well...so now my bf has confiscated them & they're just waiting there on a friday morning which is my official 'weigh in day'.

apart from that, i think the best thing you can do is keep telling yourself that you won't see a change really from day-to-day and if you do, it's quite possibly fluid. that or as kate says, just make them harder to use!

I weigh every morning right after I go to the loo and I dont have a problem with that, if I'm up it gives me incentive to be better, if I'm down it gives me incentive to keep going. But I avoid the scales like the plague any other time of the day because its going to be up, of course, as I've put food in my body.
Maybe try and wean yourself down to just first thing, keep telling yourself any other time that 'of course its going to be up!'

You should try measuring yourself!
Start Weight (from beginning): 71
Current Weight: 63.00
Weight lost so far: 8.00
Goal Weight: 55.00

8 kilos left.
