I only had this thought the other day when I was holidaying in Apollo Bay. I always had a great figure until I had children & I put on more weight with each child. (I've had 4 children) So I guess you could say that I've been overweight for over 6 years & slim for 27 years. My Mum had a great figure until she had children. She was slim for 21 years. She's almost 58 & she's been obese for almost 37 years. She's been on & off so many diets. Mum has been overweight longer than she has been slim.

I want to be skinny longer than I am fat

I also meant to say with this post that I also know people who have NEVER been slim - been overweight since they were little kids. So they have never known what it's like to be thin. Well this affirmation applies to them also. They might be in their 20's, 30's, 40's, if they lose weight now, they'll get to their 60's, 70's 80's & they'll have achieved being slim longer than they were overweight. I just wanted to acknowledge that group of people also.

Also Mum was given steroid medication for her arthritis which caused such a weight gain for her. That's one of the reasons she's battled with weightloss. I've been trying to get her to join this forum. I guess she will when she's ready.
Proud Mum of 4 - it's the best job I've ever had!

Be willing to accept a temporary inconvenience for permanent improvement. (unknown)

Thats just it, it may seem inconveient to work out, to exercise to get motivated but in the long term, it really is for an improvemnent! And teh harder we wrok now the less harder its going to be then if we keep putting it off for anotehr day

What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals (Zig Ziglar):

1) You can't change the winds, but you can change the sails

2) This is my favourite quote, and though it's not specifically weightloss related, I try to apply it to all things in life.

Weight loss is about choices. I can choose to deal with a bad day or temptation by giving in to food, or I can choose to find something positive in it and use it. I can look at a small failure as losing the war and quit then and there, or I can suck it up, learn fom it and make it a valuable experience. I can curse being fat, or I can make the changes to make it better.

That's what this quote is saying - don't just complain about the way things are and what has happened in the past, make the best of them, learn from them, adapt to them GROW from them.

That philosophy is enough to put that fire back in my motivation on hard days and get me back on that horse, and that saying is what I need to remind me of the philosophy.
35kg lost. (November 2005 - October 2006)
15kg gained again (as at October 2010).
Back to the drawing board - Let's do this thing!

"You can't change the winds, but you can change the sails"

"Reach out and take control of what lands in your lap"

Instead of giving myself reasons why I can't, I give myself reasons why I can.

Too often i use the excuse I cant do this, it hurts it takes too long its not fair, but i should be thinking, i can do this, the more i do it teh less it will hurt, the more i try th more i can do..

"to dream of the person you would like to be is the waste the person that you are"

I dont know if i have seen this posted already but i cant believe i didnt think of this one before. In relation to weightloss, i use this quote alot. For so long i would think i would be this whole wonderfully difference person if i lost weight, that i'd be "better" i would be differnt more likeable, and i would have this vision of me and id wish as much as i could to be that "ideal" thin, sexy, super confident person.

But the reality is, as much as i can dream about it, i am now i am what i am, and by dreaming of some unacheivable goal (like being a better person or more likeable) i was wasting my todays, i was wasting my chance to make the most of what i have and what i have right now. It's not about being a better person or a differnet person its about working with what you have got and make the most of it, work hard for it. Just dream about it, DO IT!! Don't look at someones journey and think "wow i wish i could lose that much weight or exercise liek that" start with what you have and work with it

"I'll be so thin, i'll only have one chin"

This is one of a few that keep me going, and i'm finding that telling myself i'm not on a diet, i'm just eating healthy really helps me a lot. :D
