I do Yoga and I used to do pilates. While liking both I find that each do different things. Pilates is more of a toning and core workout while yoga focuses on flexibility, balance and the gentle stretching of the muscles. I generally do yoga to recoup the body after a few tough cardio sessions whereas I generally couldn't cough after a tough pilates session.

When I was at my heaviest I did a lot of pilates and toning sessions. I wasn't in a position to do cardio everyday and I was still getting a great low impact workout from them. Fitball was another thing I did a lot of early on.

I do pilates only coz I have never done yoga. I like pilates but it is tough when you start out, im not sure if it gets easier or not. Really gets your tummy muscles working though :)

I've never done yoga, so can't comment on that. I do pilates 1-3 x a week and I really like it. You can def feel it in your tummy, even though it is low impact it is still hard! Been doing it for almost a month now and I reckon its helping to tone my tummy for sure, it does get easier too!

You can buy cheap DVD's so it can be a great at home workout. Lovely to do before bedtime as with all the breathing that pilates focus's on, it is very relaxing.
Saying goodbye to calorie counting AND scales for a while.

Just enjoying the new and improved healthy me and embracing my new lifestyle!
