Exercises to help with fat arms.

Postby curvygirl » Fri Jul 04, 2008 12:19 pm

I have really big arms. I even need to but the next size up just to fit them in. I was wondering if anyone knows any good exercises to help reduce the size of them. Also has anyone had liposuction on their arms. I would love to here about it. :( :( :( :(

Bad news is you can't spot reduce, other wise my butt would be alot smaller by now not my top half. Good news is, try strength exercise to tone that area, like push ups and resistance machines etc.
As for lipo, i don't know much about it but have been told that it sucks out the fat cells and is good at first until the fat goes to different areas if you put on again which i guess could look quite gross. Best option i think is to do the hard work which will prevent you from putting on again, I'm not saying lipo is the easy way but you don't learn to look after yourself by doing that.

You can't spot reduce, but you can certainly tone your arms and make them a bit more firm. A combination of cardio exercise to burn fat all over your body and resistance work targetting your arm muscles should reduce the wobbliness.

Push ups, tricep dips and hand-weights will all work the muscles in your arms and help tone that area.

You'll find arm exercises on the following sites:

No idea about lipo, sorry.

But I wanted to let you know, my arms used to jiggle big time and the thing I noticed that seemed to be the easiest method of getting them firmer was swimming.

Not a quick fix (I have been going once a week for 6 months) but it is nice pain free resistance........maybe look into lap swimming or an aqua-arobic class?

I share your pain. My arms and thighs (but particularly my arms) aren't in proportion with the rest of my body, because they have so many more fat stores.

I do as many toning exercises as I can with my arms. I add light weights to my rebounding and move my arms and it seems to be helping tone the muscle underneath the flab to give it a bit of a thinner appearance, lol. We just have to be patient, toning them as best we can while we lose fat is about it, but eventually as your body fat percentage lowers, so will the size of your arms :)

As well as all the other great suggestions mentioned, what about a boxing class? It tones your arms and shoulders like NOTHING else, it's a great cardio workout, it's fun, you don't have to wear swimmers, you can make new friends, and even learn some self defence.

Can you all tell I'm really enjoying my boxing class? :P
