Adelaide City to Bay training

Postby meegs » Sun Jul 27, 2008 12:46 pm

Hi all,
I thought I would give you a week to week on my training for the City to Bay.
Let's start by saying that I do 2 cardio sessions and 1 Fitball session with Step into Life weekly so this is extra on top of that.
This morning we went for a 4.5 km run around golf links - I think I went a bit further cos I got lost (and had to ring my mum to find out where I was going!)
I am going with a group but as I am the last person (every time - maybe next year I won't be!!) I couldn't see where the rest of them went!

All of this is through my Step into Life classes.

Have a great day.
Cheers,
meegs :D

4.5 kms?! Well done Meegs!

Bugger, I was hoping it was with a different group that I might've been able to swindle my way into!

Well done on your run this morning meegs - always good to hear about other runners' stories :)

How far is the City to Bay and when is it?

I am usually the last person at my running club, too, but they're so encouraging - bless!

I've heard lots of good things about Step Into Life. Sounds fun :)
Just keep moving! And don't be lazy...

Hi!
The City to Bay is 12km, from Adelaide to Glenelg.

I am always the last one at Step into Life - but when I started (10 months ago) I couldn't even jog 10 metres and now look at me - I can do up to 5kms non-stop, and have an aim of the whole 12!

We'll wait and see! :D

What I also should have said is that Step into Life is fabulous. The people are really friendly - I look forward to going to my classes (most of the time!)

The trainer is great - he knows us all so well, and yet can still motivate and push us all!

Cheers

It seems like a long time in between training sessions... but this past Sunday we did a 6-8 km run (I'm not sure exactly!!!)

I was with a group of about 12 and the front runners would run to a certain spot and then come back to the end (me - every time  ), that is why i am not sure how far!

The one thing that I was really pleased with was that my pace stayed the same the whole race - I didn't get faster - but I also didn't slow down!

I might not finish in a great time but I think I will make the 12 km.
It's getting closer all the time.
Cheers all,
Meegs

Well done Meegs! It sounds like you're really improving and thats the most important thing.

You'll make 12 kms easy! It doesn't matter if the faster runners come back to you...just remember that everyone has to start somewhere - they more than likely were in your position when they started and one day you'll be helping a newie and they'll be looking up to you!

Training Update!
Today's session included a 30 minute run (in the rain!), followed by 10 100m sprints - ARRRGGHH!!!

It was quite tough1
Next week we do 10km (can't wait!)

Cheers,

Meegs

I CAN DO ANYTHING!!!
This morning I completed my first 10km run - around the river Torrens. It was a beautiful morning and more importantly I completed my run without stopping!

I am so thrilled with myself! I could conquer the world today if it got in my way!

Cheers all,
Meegs
