why is excersize gaining weight?

I have been woring out at the gym doing mostly cardio for 2 weeks and I have gained a kilo.
I haven't been this active in years so didn't expect to put on the weight I have worked so hard on loosing for the past year :(

I've noticed that my metablosim has sped up, which has made me hungrier, but I am still sticking to a healthy diet.
I'm not sure what I am doing wrong.
Any help and advice would be great :D

The reason you have gained weight is because you are building muscles that havent been active for awhile. doesnt mean your not losing fat. if you measure yourself you will find that you have lost cm's. the more exercise you do in the begining the more muscles you build. hope this helps you.

I haven't measured myself, I guess I better start LOL
I lost half a kilo after Fridays workout.. I pushed myself harder than normal and it paid off :)

I've had the same problem and it annoyed the hell out of me. I just didn't lose any weight at all. Now I'm getting in quite a good rythm, still changing some of my habits (mostly eating), which actually helps more (in my case) than going to the gym 3 times a week.
