Tracking exercise on CalorieKing??

Postby waterbaby » Sun Mar 14, 2010 9:01 pm

Hi all
I am wondering how you track how fast you walk (2.5kph, 3kph, 3.5kph etc....??). I am sure there must be a simple way.
Also I am not sure how I should track my swimming. I am swimming 20 laps in 15 minutes but not sure how to track that.... slow or fast?
I think it is slow, but not sure?
Any thoughts?

To be honest I gave up on that site. Its to hard trying to work out what exercise you do etc and so many foods are not in there. When I did do it, I put I walked at 2.5km just to be safe

Work out how far you walked using www.mapmyrun.com, then how long it took you.

The best way to track how many calories you have burnt is to get yourself a good Heart Rate Monitor, it is the most accurate method.

I usually put my swim down as slow, just coz I'm not going at race speed. And I never do butterfly. 25m or 50m pool?

Hi there
Thanks for the advice
Its a 25m pool. I am a consistent swimmer, laps without stopping but I imagine myself as slow...
Dumb question, but I am guessing that a heart rate monitor cannot be used with swimming or water aerobics?!?
Halfway through water aerobics we check our heart rate and mine is consitently at 150-160. The isntructor says anywhere between 120-180 is good?
Sound right to you? Perhaps if I checked my heart rate while swimming?
Thanks again and Czarina - WOW only 0.9 to go!! How impressive!

Yeah thats the neat thing about HRM you can get waterproof ones! I was looking at getting one a while back but couldn't justify the expense. It was a polar one.

I gave up on tracking exercise long ago on CK and got myself a hrm. Most, if not all, should be waterproof but it pays to check first.
I have a Polar F7 and it is water proof.

I’ll second the HRM, love mine! My transmitter needed a battery change a few weeks ago and working out without one made me realise how much I loved it! I missed it, hehe! Getting one is the best thing I ever did, it made me love exercise!
My journey so far...
