Bridge to Brisbane Fun Run

Postby Chantelly-Lace » Mon May 28, 2007 11:36 am

I just wanted to know if any other Brisbane locals or other area Queenslanders where thinking of doing the Bridge to Brisbane this year.

I thought it would be a great goal to have, being able to run the 4.5km course (don't think I'm ready to do the 12km course!). I have posted a few details about it below, as well as the website link. Let me know if anyone else has thought about it.

Chantel.

THE 4.5KM EVENT
The 4.5km event starts from Amy Street and Agnes Street (see race categories for your start), next to the Breakfast Creek Hotel. The course will follow the outbound lanes of Breakfast Creek Road to Edmondstone Road, cross into the inbound lanes of Breakfast Creek at that intersection and follow the finally part of the 12km course to New Farm Park.

THE 12KM EVENT
The 12km event will start near the toll plaza on the Gateway Bridge, travel to the Powerhouse entrance and follow the concourse into new Farm Park. The uphill portion of the Gateway Bridge is 1.1km with a gradient of 5.1%. The downhill section is 1.1km.

I'm planning on doing the 12km run. I haven't done a fun run since my daughter was born 7 years ago. High time I did another one :)

:D They always say great minds think alike

The thread I posted is in Challenges. I'm definitely interested and will most likely be doing the 4.5km. Have a couple of friends who are semi-interested though one pretty fit and the other's one of my teacher's who is a super fit freak.

Certainly am, just got back after driving 6k’s to mark in the line from my house. I’ll spend what little time I have walking &jogging the distance with the second last walking it & the final before resting. It seems to be getting me in the exercise groove anyways. Wish you all luck...”Thumbs Up”

Wont be going again!...I was put off by the smutty coments as I crossed the finish line...I guess some of you might like that kind of thing...completley spoiled it for me...I know if I posted half the stuff they joked about you would be deleting it from here!

Too much Tyco-night-glo ... was not very family orientated at all ... was more like 30 000 Zooloo warriors on heat ... bla bla ... was not what I expected for my forst time funrun...It's amazing how a few smart ass coments at the end of the race can leave you feeling about the event.

I'll stick to the country roads thanks

Oh Dave, I am so sorry. Maybe its just as well I didn't go, I am not sure my fragile ego could take any blows like that right now. I think your amazing for even giving such a long run ago!! Good on you for making it to the finish!!

LOL @ fragile ego...Has nothing to do with "fragil ego" If I dont want my kids to hear some guy on a BOOM BOX talking about "Riding that Hottie from behind across the line" ect ect...then that just says some of us have different values...

I have on off & on button at home...I dont need to hear that garbage when I am out in public...Thats the kind of disrespect that leads to less showing up at our carnival of flowers...Fragile, I think not.
