20 Minutes at lunch worth it?

Postby loveat116 » Tue Sep 11, 2007 5:43 pm

I went to the gym today in my lunch break and did 20 minutes on the eliptical.

Is it worth it only doing 20 minutes? It takes me 10 minutes to walk to the gym, a few minutes to get changed. 20 Minutes exercise, 5 minutes stretching, 5 minutes to get changed and 10 minutes to walk back. Then i need a little time to eat my lunch.

I would run but i have really bad knees, so i try to use the cross trainer cause i wont injure them.

I do about 4x40 minute cardio sesssions a week, so this would be in addition to this.

is 20 minutes worth it?

every little thing adds up ella. if you read alot of articles about weightloss they recommend lots of incidental exercise as it all adds up. i.e. parking far away at the shopping centre etc. im sure it helped doing that 20 minutes.

20 mins is definitely worth it if you make it a good session! Have you tried Interval training? Where you go really hard at it for say, a minute, then have 30 seconds recovery, then go hard at it again and do it like that? That burns more calories than just going at a steady pace :)

Can you do that on a cross trainer?

I just go flat out for 20 minutes, and burn about 220-250 calories.

20 minutes definitely is, if you can sustain a higher than normal heart rate for 20 minutes, you're making a lot of progress.

The way I see it you are getting:
20 minutes walking,
20 minutes eliptical,
5 minutes strething
= 45 minutes exercise

Excellent :D
