Curves...opinions ??

Postby traceyd » Wed Jan 09, 2008 10:55 pm

Hey ok so i have alrdy joined a gym it's an ok gym but i feel funny going there, but they have heaps of equipment and cos i joined when they had a deal going i'm only paying $10p/w for my membership,my neighbour is a member at the curves gym and has been bugging me to go but i'm not sure if i should change gyms or not. Sure curves is a womens only gym but i'm not sure i wanna join cos you do the same ol thing over and over, there is no change to the routine and i know after a while doing the same ol thing just stops working, also i have been reading a few other forums and a lot of ppl have said they got seriously injured cos the circuit is only 30 min so there is no time to warm up properly

I would like ur opinion on this matter so i can decide which way i'm gonna go so i can start losing this weight

i'm a skinny girl trapped inside a fat body and need to get out :P

It really depends on what you enjoy, If you think the circuit will bore you then stick with the gym. I personslly love the gym as opposed to Curves merely because of the variety.

As to people hurting themselves the curves people will tell you you are supposed to take it easy for the first half circuit or so to warm up and as each spot is only 30 seconds and the machines are resistance not weight its easier on your body.

I hope this helps

There is alot more variety at a gym, and this is either a plus to someone or its too intimidating for them. I think it's really a matter of deciding whether you'd like the variety or not.

I find the atmosphere scary at any weight-loss place, particually gyms. As silly as it seems, I wouldn't join one until I'm very close to my goal weight, simply because I'm too embarressed about my appearance, lol, but one day..

I was reading in my womens health mag that if you buy a box of Uncle Tobys lite muesli cereal (or one of those, the box will be marked) you can trial Curves for 2 weeks for free. Why not do that? That way you havent forked out any money and you can see if it suits you or not.

I think im gonna do that... plus i can have a change in cereal for a couple of weeks too! LOL

No worries.
I gotta get my butt to the shops to find a box! LOL.
I wonder if there are any hidden costs?

Probably not. Alot of gyms offer a 1 week or 2 week trial. Then if you like it you have the option to join, or if you aren't that keen, walk away.
