Hi! This is the first time I've posted on this website. A friend gave me a copy of their zumba dvd's but I haven't been motivated enough to give them a go. After reading all your posts it sounds like a lot of fun. I'm going to get them out to try as soon as I've finished here and let you all know how I go.

I'm 29 and a depressing 111.5kg. I was 115 a few weeks ago but have slowly started changing my diet and walking at least 3 times a week. I slipped back a little this week but I'm determined to get under 100 in the next month! My wedding is next September and I'm hoping to lose enough that I wont be self conscious about how I look. I haven't got an ultimate goal weight just yet. My first step is to get back under 100 and see where I go from there.

Ok as promised I just tried the beginner disk and it was heaps of fun. A real workout! I could feel it working my legs and it really got the heart rate going. Disappointed that the disk is only 18 minutes though. Will have another go at it later this afternoon - its addictive!

I've gone to a couple of Zumba classes and LOVED IT! It's an hour long but you feel like you just started when it ends. It's ALOT of fun.....I need to keep going but things seem to keep getting in the way of it lately. If you can find a class you should give it a try I think you'd love it......man I sound like I'm trying to sell it lol.

Hey,
Great to hear others getting into the fun and high energy Zumba. I think it's great as you can always build up the movements as you become fitter.
I have just started Zumba classes, been going for 2 weeks and loving it. After the first couple of days I was SO much better (but I am a former dancer) although my non-dancer friend found it easier too. However I believe for newbies you need to keep the focus on moving (to lose weight) and not getting the steps right or being in time, lol! The music and being in a class watching others really motivates me. It is costly compared to DVDs but I work myself so much harder in a class. Did I mention it is fun? I'm always laughing at myself in class! So I think that's building some good positive reinforcement with exercise!

I bought the zumba dvd and tried it out for about three days. Just couldn't get into it, perhaps to cold. Like most, am not very coordinated.
Now that it is starting to warm up I'm going to give it another go. I need to lose another 10kilos, I would feel so much better in myself if I could manage this. So exercise I must.
I am always looking for ways to keep my weight down. check out my blog http://www.ideasforweightloss.blogspot.com & http://www.squidoo.com/tips-for-dieting-and-eating-out
