Molligrub is Going for Broke

Postby molligrub » Thu Dec 13, 2007 4:32 pm

Well, new topic, new start. Again. Grrgh.

It is 12 days until Christmas, and I refuse to spend yet another Christmas day feeling uncomfortable in my own skin, because that's exactly how I feel at the moment. So I am going for my little life to lose some flab before then.

I had stopped counting calories and it was working for awhile, but then lost the plot and got slack. The old "oh I've been so good and lost weight so I deserve a little leeway" trap.

Starting weight: 56.9kg
Measurements:
 Upper Arm: 26.0cm
 Chest: 83.0cm
 Waist: 75.0cm  result of far to much binging
 Hips: 84.0cm
 Booty: 91.5cm
 Upper Thigh: 55.0cm

This is my plan: 1400 calories per day, plus 10 cals/km cycling.

Exercise today:
 77km ride
 500m swim
 2.5km walk
 100 stomach crunches and 10 push ups

Calories Allowed: 2200

Thanks Ella! Man, you got in quick with that reply!! Yeah, I'm planning on BLITZING this weight off in no time flat (sensibly, of course :D )

I was only going to do 50km this morning (only, ha ha!!) but actually felt so good I did extra on my own after the group ride had ended. One of those (rare) days where I just felt like i could keep going forever!

Cheers, Molli.

Hey thanks guys!!

You are absolutely right - I can do this!

I have decided to start looking at my calorie intake as a weekly thing, not a day-by-day thing, that way if I eat over or under my target, I can make up for it over the week instead of thinking that I've ruined my day. Maybe that'll help.

Hiya Molligrub :D

Sounds like a great plan you've got there! And you're right about looking at the calories as a weekly thing, it's good to have more calories some days and less others, it's called "calorie cycling", and it helps the body to not get used to how much your eating. It's meant to rev up your metabolism.

Looking forward to hearing more of your progress :D

Well, my eating plan didn't go QUITE to plan, but still a good effort overall I think.

I sneaked a few nibbles of this that and the other in while I was waiting for dinner, and then for dinner instead of having 1 piece of pizza and 2 nectarines I had 2 pieces of pizza. But on the upside, instead of binging like I inevitably do on pizza, I set myself out two pieces on a plate, put the rest in the fridge, and ate VERY VERY slowly with a gigantic mug of coffee to wash it down with. And guess what? I STRUGGLED to get through those two pieces, whereas normally I can tuck away 8 no worries (washed down by copious amounts of chocolate)  .

After tea I was feeling a bit too full to go for a run, so I hopped on my bike and just did some laps around the block until I wore off some of those calories!

So I ate 1800 cals today, but that's okay, because I have my plan all worked out and I'M STICKING TO IT!!!

I'm going to make my weigh days Monday and Thursday - there is no way I can hang out an entire week waiting to know if what I'm doing is effective or not!!!

So, two days until the first weight! I can't wait!! Pardon the pun!

My tummy is still huge, can't wait until some of the fat disappears off my waist/hips etc. I've always had an completely flat tummy until I started shift work as a nurse 5 years ago, and then I just started slowly put weight on there. Bummer.

Am going to hit the 2000 calorie mark today, whoops. Lots of nibbling and picking at things, and boy was it hard to keep track of it all! But I did, and even though I went over for the second day in a row, I'm just relaxing in the knowledge that I'm going by the overall calorie deficit, not the daily one. So I'll just undercut slightly over the next few days to a week and that'll fix it.

Am going to change my weigh days to Sundays and Thursdays. Weight this morning was 56.1kg, so a little bit of water weight lost.

I'm not going to get excited until I see some visible changes, because the first bit is only going to be water lost.

Went on a 77km ride this morning again, so I can have up to 2300 cals (I have adjusted my calorie goals around to make it more realistic for me, but they're still similar), but I'll prob only have 2100.

Cheers, Molli

That's quite a ride, molli - how long does 77km take? Were you riding with others or on your own?
Just keep moving! And don't be lazy...

Depending on the wind, how many people etc, but roughly around 3 hours or slightly over for around 77km, the more people the easier because there is more shelter from the wind. I normally go with a group of around 4-7 riders. If I'm on my own I'd take around 3 1/2 to 4 hours.

Have had a really good couple of days. Did a 32km ride yesterday, and ate 1700 cals, right on target. Did 40km this morning, so can have up to 1900 if I want. I definitely feel lighter, so I think I could be going to have a big weight loss this week! Yay!!

The only problem is it has been SOO hot, and even out riding at five thirty am to seven thirty I have been getting sunburnt!!! Yikes
