LY's 7 day challenge

Postby loveyourself » Tue Jun 01, 2010 1:05 pm

i used to post updates about my weight on another forum, but the forum died :(
so i am switching over to this forum!

i have set myself a challenge to eat well and exercise so i can loose 1kg per week before i go on my backpacking trip around europe!
i have about 2 months to go and that is plenty of time i reckon to get in great shape.
i set myself a new challenge every 7 days to keep me modivated. i also weigh myself everyday, not obsessivley, it just keeps me honest.
i like to eat a clean diet and exercise everyday. i always take my dog and she needs to exercise everyday so its my excuse.
mon - 40min power walk, 30min weights
tues - 40min power walk
wed - 40min power walk, 30min weights
thurs - 40min power walk
fri - 40min power walk, 30min weights
sat - 40min power walk
sun - 40min power walk

im going to list my diet and exercise everyday.
i completed my 1st 7 day challenge last week and i lost 1.2kg
my aim for next tuesday 8th June is to loose 1kg and weigh 62.7kg

Expecting to lose 1kg a week when you are already at the lower end of the healthy weight range, is not realistic. You may have 'big' losses the first couple of weeks, but a lot of that is going to be fluid.

.5kg is much more realistic, and don't be surprised or disappointed if it is even less than that...

Czarina is right. When i weighed in my early 60s and was trying to lose weight, i'd lose 1-2kgs a month, and i was a maniac with exercise and eating right. Just be healthy and realistic :)

thanks guys i will definatley keep that in mind!
im not going to torture myself if i dont loose that much weight anyway. its more about loosing fat, gaining muscle and reducing pant size ;)
in the past it was pretty easy to loose 1kg per week up untill i got to 60kg, so once i get there its probably going to be 0.2-0.5kg loses.
its nice that im back in the eating healthy and exercising rhythm. how are you both doing? its also nice to have people supporting me like this forum. xx

I'm going pretty well at the moment. Have had a few issues in my personal life of late, so my focus definitely was not on my food / exercise, but I'm getting back on track now and feeling much better for it!

Are you counting calories? Looking at your food consumption, you may not be eating enough, which can be very bad for the metabolism. You might be surprised at how much you need to eat to lose weight!

I'm doing well too, just busy busy busy finishing off my masters. I can't wait till its done, only 2 weeks to go!

I'm also 13 weeks pregnant, and in a week i'll be in my second trimester which is very exciting! I miss food, I can't wait to be able to eat food again. I've been surviving on fruit and carbs *sigh*

Thursday 10th June 2010
B: meuslie & lf yoghurt
MT: apple
L: ham, cheese & tomato toastie
AT: pear & 6 almonds
D: beef & brown rice with beans & tomato

Exercise: 30min cardio dvd & 25min pilates

update for friday 11 june: down to 63.7kg, so a loss of 600g which means im getting back in the swing of things.
im have 7 weeks untill i go away so its time to really knuckle down and shed some kg. im hoping to get to 55kg before i go away so if i gain a couple whilst im away it wont really matter. i might hire a personal trainer for four sessions in the last 4 weeks to really push myself.
im really enjoying pilates which is good because i need a hard stomach in all the bikinis!
i must get back into running! only 2x per week because otherwise i get sick of it!
going to google victoria secret workouts because, obviously, they have the best bodies. maybe too slim but they are definatley toned!

MEXICAN RICE!

i thought i might share a SUPER simple healthy recipe that i made up last night. Im constantly making up new dishes and id like to share. This recipe like all my others that i make up are easily buildable with lots of room to add more ingredients! (think VEGES!)

Ingredients
1 cup of cooked brown rice (not white rice people!)
500g of sliced beef
1 teaspoon of garlic
1 diced onion
1 can of 3 bean mix
1 & 1/2 cans of old el'paso hot salsa
corriander
1 sliced tomato
pinch of parmesan to serve

cook brown rice first, probably will take about 30-45min
place the cut up tomatoes in the oven on grill. remove when cooked. (try to keep hot. this is when timing comes in to play!)
then once the rice is cooked pour a little olive oil in a frying pan on a high heat. add garlic and brown the meat & onion
then add a drained can of 3 bean mix, 1 &1/2 cans of salsa. reduce the heat quickly to a simmer.
drain and add the rice to the mix
roughly cut up some corriander and throw it in the mix just before you serve.
serve the mix into bowls, add a couple of slices of tomato on top with a couple of leaves of corriander and parmesan.
salt and pepper to taste.
i just made up this recipe last night and my boyfriend thought it was delish!
ENJOY! (oh and its really cheap to make and makes LOTS! bout 4 serves or more)

Thank you :D

I know i should eat meat, but i cant stomach it. Its not pregnancy related, i never liked meat and chicken to begin with. Before I was living off seafood, but now i'm off that too. Poor bub hehe. My doctor says its fine as long as i still get enough iron *in comes iron supplements*
