Mandie, rest assured I fully understand where you are coming from!

I am hovering on the brink of that phase myself ....

Good luck with your finals on my boys B day! I will have a drink for you.

How are they examining you??? Next year I get examined at the end of each roatation (4 in total), plus a fitness for interniship mid-year. This year I have an 8 hour written, and 3 days of prac. It is hard for me as I changed unis this year, so I do not know what to expect.

You have to do a fitness test before your internship? Correct me if I'm wrong I may have miss-understood! It seems a bit strange because I know Dr's wall around wards from ward to ward and so forth but nurses do a lot of tough hands on work and they don't have fitness tests (maybe some should!) And I'm not saying nurses work harder or anything like that I just find it odd both don't! What uni's are you both at?

That's heaps of exams!!!

This year is my final year - I don't have any sort of fitness test (thank god!), and I have had heaps of ongoing assessment - 1-2 oral exams and some writtens each term.. so on November 5 I have one 3 hour written and that's it!!

At the end of 5th year, we had a written and an OSCE (clinical exam - prac). Same at the end of 4th year. 3rd year we had a couple of writtens and an OSCE... 2nd year just writtens, and 1st year just writtens.

I'm doing a 6 year undergraduate course at University of Western Australia..

Re: the fitness thing - not sure, maybe Ses means the prac exam??? I don't have any fitness test that's for sure!!

lol Mandie I would have done medicine (and had many people try and get me into it) but I hate exams! And I hate studying, I don't envy you! My step father is a Rehabilitation Specialist (apparently a good one - based on all the conferences he goes to around the world fully paid) and he works so much that it put me off as well. Nursing is hard work but I don't take it home and people arn't calling me at all hours asking my opinion or asking me to come to work to check on a pt. Good luck to both of you and Ses sorry for hijacking your thread!

I am fine with hijacking ....

They have introduced a test to check a students rediness for the intern year - basically to make sure we wont kill anyone. Although a mini marathon may be a better test, given the miles the interns cover in a general day!

I am in study mode, and have a relative staying to help for a couple of weeks. #1 son has just become a teen, and is planning a murder party for saturday night. I cannot beleive he is 13 already. For the other mums - enjoy your babes!
My wt is stable - under 71, and close o 70, without much effort. The loss will have to wait.....

Party was last night and went well. All dressed for the part. Ahmed Abooboo was a boyy, dressed as a woman impersonating a man, so the fake beard was perfect!

It was sons idea, and we have wanted to do one for a while. The kit cost $30, and included a CD, invites and instructions.

They all thought it was Herr Kutt (even his mother understood why......), but were surprised at the end.

Now I just need to get motivated to study ..... it has been a glorious day here, and I have spent it netting the orchard and in the pool.

I am trying to motivate myself to study asthma, but procrastination is much more fun.

Diet-wise I am doing well. I have started re-introducing some foods, and have stopped counting cals for a couple of weeks. My wt is still stable so I am not concerned. I will be happy to stay put until after my exams, and then concentrate on losing the last kgs.

Good luck with the study Ses :)

I'm all done, and assuming I passed (get the results next Friday) I will be legitimately calling myself Dr Mandie! Yay :)
