After a few detours (other books) I eventually got around to finishing the Second Suns trilogy mentioned above. The pace didn't slacken in the third book either, and it now ranks as one of my all-time favourite fantasy novels.
I've now begun the Farseer Trilogy of fantasy novels by Robin Hogg. It's about a prince's illegitimate son growing up, learning the skills of an assassin. I think this is another winner.
Unlike my previous book, a novellisation of the TSR Forgotten Realms "Pool Of Radiance". Oh, dear, it was dire. Standard Dungeons & Dragons fare complete with cardboard cutout characters, cliches and contrivances colonising every corridor, and the dreaded deux ex machinae brought out whenever the plot painted itself into a corner. It was fun in a brutal way, but dire in execution.
Back to Farseer...
Striving to improve in every way possible.
