I just finished a book call "wasted" i can't remember who it was by, but it was an autobiography about a heroin addict who ended up on the streets. Really brilliant.

OK I just finished reading "The Bell Jar"... about a 3rd year college student who has a fashion job placement for a month in some US city, and when she gets home she starts trying to kill herself and ends up in an asylum... But seriously.. to anyone else who has read this.. What is with the end? It just stops and leaves you hanging, you don't get to find out if she gets to leave or not?

The only conclusion I can come to about this is that the story stops there, because that depressive phase of her life stops there also. I come to the conclusion that she gets to go home back to college etc, and thats the end of "that" part of her thus the end of the book? Any other thoughts?

I also thought that it jumped quite quickly from "everythings ok having great fun" and suddenly she's trying to kill herself.. to fast of a transition for me. But it is still a good read, i did enjoy it. Now i'm onto Million Little Pieces... looking forward to it :)

Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gillbert..........seriously can't put this book down. It's so captivating & knowing that its a real story about the writer is great. I saw Elizabeth Gillbert on Oprah & she is just so lovely & funny I just had to track down the book & now all I want to do is keep reading.

It really is an excellent book & its based on the Authors self discovery & travels through Italy, India & Indonesia. Here is a blurb from a review.

Plagued with despair after a nasty divorce, the author, in her early 30s, divides a year equally among three dissimilar countries, exploring her competing urges for earthly delights and divine transcendence. First, pleasure: savoring Italy's buffet of delights — the world's best pizza, free-flowing wine and dashing conversation partners — Gilbert consumes la dolce vita as spiritual succor. 'I came to Italy pinched and thin,' she writes, but soon fills out in waist and soul. Then, prayer and ascetic rigor: seeking communion with the divine at a sacred ashram in India, Gilbert emulates the ways of yogis in grueling hours of meditation, struggling to still her churning mind. Finally, a balancing act in Bali, where Gilbert tries for equipoise 'betwixt and between' realms, studies with a merry medicine man and plunges into a charged love affair. Sustaining a chatty, conspiratorial tone, Gilbert fully engages readers in the year's cultural and emotional tapestry — conveying rapture with infectious brio, recalling anguish with touching candor — as she details her exotic tableau with history, anecdote and impression.

Plus it was on special at Big W for just $16.20. Bargain!

I'm reading Thanks for the memories at the moment - a bit far-fetched but such a nice and easy read - only half way through so hopefully it will end well.
Cheers, everyone.

'The Lazy Girl's Guide to Losing Weight and Getting Fit', by A.J. Rochester.

Fitting, isn't it?!? So far up to chapter 2, I bought this one yesterday and I don't usually buy books but I thought - usually where I would treat myself to food, I won't. I will 'splurge out' on a book, and binge read it instead :P :D
