How does one explain to an Eighty year old Italian woman that her food is fantastic and delicious yet is killing me and I cannot eat 10 plates full of food everytime I call around.

I filled up on salad tonight before touching anything else, and she was most offended. Apparently my lack of appetite shows I no longer love her and she may as well just die now.

Wow that is a tricky one! Its funny how some people take offense to you not eating something they offer you, sometimes you can end feeling more guilty then if you had ate it!!

Whats her eyesight like, can you hide food?? Meat under salads? In pot plants? Feed to pets?

Im thinking telling her she's a drama queen wouldnt help either? LOL I really dont know! Sorry i was zero help there!

At first I thought this was a porn spam post I was going to have delete  There have been some shockers lately... :P

I don't know what you can do other than talk to gran and reassure her how much you love her. She's loving you to death with food!
Just keep moving! And don't be lazy...

It's a hard one. Some people, particuarly some age groups and cultures, show their love through food, so if you don't accept said food, well, then you're not appreciating their love.

I'd say perhaps have a tiny amount of each dish she serves and exclaim very appreciatively when you're finished "wow, thankyou, that was such a nice meal, it was so delicious and filling I couldn't possibly eat another thing!" and then just stick with the "Gee, really I'm just too full, but thankyou for offering" thing

I just thought of something. You could tell her that your not feeling very well, but you would love to take some home with you? Or save it for later?
That way she isn't offended and then you can either give it to someone else, or sad I know, throw it away when she isn't around.

only problem with that suggestion would be that she'll start worrying about your health after about the third time, and then she'll be coming around with food to make you feel better all the time!!

Funnily enough, I tried something similar the other day. I told her I had a late lunch at work and would take some home for later. Then took it to work the next day and 3 of us had it for lunch.
