carbs with stir fry

Postby sassi » Tue Feb 05, 2008 10:20 am

hi all

i make a stir fry for dinner at least once a week & i usually put rice or noodles with it. i'm wondering if everyone else does the same or do you completely skip the carbs with it?

i'm thinking maybe i'm going wrong by having the carbs with it?

I am so over the whole carbs are bad for you nonsense!!

I eat carbs everyday and I have lost weight. You just need to choose the right type and amount of carbs. Basmati rice is the best rice as it has a low GI count. Brown rice is also good.

Just make sure your only having a small serve. I usually allow 1 cup of cooked rice with dinner. If you look at the food pyramid carbs are right up the top!!

I agree about the no carbs thing. You can have your carbs, just dont OD on them!

We go wholegrain rice mostly. Or Basmati. Noodles we do as well, but try and get something lighter. That said, hoikken noodles dont build up TOO many points.

I had the best Honey Soy Chicken stirfry with Hoiekien Noodles on sat night IT WAS YUMMMMMMOOOO I think noodles (not to many) give your stirfry that extra taste without making you feel too bulky. Yumm

I love sitrfry with noodles or rice!
But every now and then we just chuck in SOOO many veggies that they fill you up without needing anything else!
Guess it depends on how you feel and what's in the fridge!

But agreed, I LOVE my carbs, and I don't ever want to be rid of them
I just ate my own fried rice (got the idea from on here) for lunch!

I love stir fries, I make at least 2 a week, so quick and easy :D

I use the hokein noodles, they're lower in carbs than the udon noodles. I use 1 single serve in the SF and that is for me and hubby. So thats 25grams carbs each. You could have a whole serve to yourself (1 packet) as 50grams carbs isn't too bad considering a serve of pasta is around 90 carbs!

If i've overdone my carbs during the day, i'll have stir fry with no noodles, serve mine out, then put noodles in there for hubby, he's a stick and needs no depriving
Saying goodbye to calorie counting AND scales for a while.

Just enjoying the new and improved healthy me and embracing my new lifestyle!
