Understanding BMR

I have just looked into understanding and calculating my BMR. What I want to know is, if my BMR is 2200 calories, should I be eating less than this to lose weight? I'm a little confused by this and hope someone can help clear it up for me, thanks :oops:
I cracked the 90kg mark for the first time in two years, I'm happy!!
