Im curious as to who or how many people indulge in eating so called "fat free" icecream while trying to lose weight?

I used to get sucked in to anything supposedly 'fat free' but now I know how (thanks to Calorieking.com.au which a lot of us use) I count the calories and try to say within my range.

While things could be fat free, there could be LOTS of sugar and calories...

PS Ice cream - especially in winter - is my biggest temptation!!!

yep it's a case of the old formula

as a general rule

low saturated fat = high sugar

or low saturated fat = high sodium (salt)

I guess there are alot worse things than some of the icecreams out there

Icecream is one of my very worst tempting foods. Once I start on it I can't stop!

Like the others have said, low fat just means high sugar. Myself, I can't eat sugar, so I go for the "no added sugar" icecream, which still has a fair amount, but it's less. Nearly $6 a pop. Usually that lasts me around 4 days or less, I just can't leave it alone!!

Best thing for an icecream craving (only works if it's a cold day).... go outside wearing very little clothing until you become very cold. Hard to want icecream then :P

Haha!! Nice one Sarah! When its cold, I'll wrap myself up in blankets and eat my icecream with gloves on (so the bowl doens't make my hands cold) and sit almost on top of the heater...!! I just LOVE it!!

I've heard that a good substitute for icecream is to freeze sliced banana then put it in a food processor. As I don't have a food processor I've never tried this. As soon as I get one I'll let you know how it works out!
