Soup Diet

Postby mandymoo » Sat Jun 17, 2006 10:13 pm

Just read The Sacred Heart Memorial Hospital Diet in Dolly's Different Diets post and was wondering if anyone has had success with this?

Think I will try for a week... Can't hurt right?

I lost lots of weight when I went on it the first time with my friend, but my will power over the past couple of years is really weak and I can't even handle even 2 days on that diet now.
Good luck and let us know how you feel each day as you go along on it.

How long did you stay on it and how much did you lose?

Also it says on the 7th day - brown rice, vegie juice and soup. How much brown rice and what kind of vegie juice and also how much juice?

Gosh Mandy, how very clever you are, in all the years I know of people trying this diet, nobody has ever noticed to ask that question. I've just looked it up in the original transcript and it actually does not state a quantity
I can only imagine that it would mean 1 cup of brown rice and 1 cup of juice.
Perhaps by day 7 everyone is so happy at being thinner they don't care what there is left for them to eat.

Hehehehe  Don't make me blush!

I'll have a look on the web...

Also on Day SIX it doesn't have the soup, but I imagine you still have it right?

And do you think it would matter if I blended it?

Gosh, I'm just full of questions! Sorry for being annoying!

Yes every day is soup day including Day 6 (wow I can't get over how you've noticed these things)
Pureeing the soup is a great idea, but I've noticed that once pureed people often eat 3 times as much as it just calls for swallowing rather than chewing (but go for it)

Well they do say the more you eat the better it is!

Sorry, you didn't say how much you lost? How long did you stick with it?

Ooop's so sorry for not replying to that earlier.
It seems that the larger you are the more weight you lose per week.
In the first week I lost 5 kilograms whilst my friend and her brother both lost 8 kilograms each. The second time I tried it I only lost 3 kilograms in the week.
The third time I tried it I couldn't stick it out for longer than 2 days, I was so sick of the taste of the soup and I sort of lost my willpower.

that's pretty good. I'd be super happy with that! It brings me much closer to my goal. Although tobe honest I will probably go lower than my goal but I just want to see how I am when I get there!

My husband claims he remembers better than I do back then as to how much weight I lost on the diet, he says in the first week I lost just over 4 kilograms not 5.
I hope you do well on it.

Oh Dolly I can't express my disappointment....

I stayed on it for 6 days and I didn't lose a thing. Not a single kg. I think I lost a few cms here and there but it just was such a disappointment.

Anyhoo I guess I will just stick to what I was doing previously!!! And a lot more exercise! I'm doing alot but I just need to vary it up a little.

Did anyone see Today Tonight the other night? Apparently there's a couple of people who it has worked for

Can't imagine losing 4-6 kilos in a week! I would have to starve myself and just excercise all day every day....

I wrote to them (Baz and Barra) after the show was aired the first time a couple of years ago letting them know that their version has been grossly changed from the original when Raelene's dad was first given the diet at the sacred heart hospital Albany WA and then made it public (I never got a reply back from the station)
It never originally contained stock or powdered mushroom soup (as this added flour and/or salt and would slow down the weightloss)
But I guess regardless of how many people have changed the diet over the years it still does the job for most.
