Lots of fruit

Postby CrimsonThunder » Fri Jan 12, 2007 3:46 pm

Is eating lots of fruit bad for you? Im talking about 2 bananas 4 peaches and 4 plums (well I dont know what they are but they look like plums).

I know your only ment to have 2 peices of fruit a day but I think it may be bad for you because they have alot of natural sugar in them.

hi tom

im not too sure on the facts but i always read that 2 serves of fruit a day is plenty but you can have as many vegies as you like. it has something to do with the gylcemic index or something?

Oh ok.

Well I went on a fruit binge yesterday and ate heaps. Its the first time I've eaten fruit in a while so I dont think it would have been too bad.

Fruit is good for you as are veggies. And according to weightwatchers points fruits have only 1 point, so they are a good eat. I too love my fruit and I eat a lot of fruit myself because it is very low calorie. Yes it has natural sugar, but it is still a far better choice than something else besides it has a lot of it has fiber in it too, so I find it very filling.

Sometimes I will eat an orange with breakfast, then with lunch I will eat a grapefruit too and sometimes for a supper I will just eat a fruit bowl, a cut up apple, a banana, kiwi, and add 1 fat free yogurt and sprinkle some fiber one cereal on top and it is very good low calorie and crunchy sweet supper sometimes.

Just be careful consuming the dried fruits, try not to eat large portions of them though, because it is very calorie dense.

thats true that it is a far better option than most snacks however just because its classed as good when you are on WW doesnt mean that other weightloss programmes allow a lot of fruit each day. just thought id make that point for people who arent on WW

Tom I crave fruit now - and will often have 4 pieces a day. I am still losing and it does fill me up well so I can't see anything wrong with it.

If you look at a way a toddler eats, they have HEAPS of fruit and don't appear to be fat - so to my way of thinking, it can't be bad for you
Every day I am getting thinner and thinner.....

When losing weight it is recommended that you don't have more than 3 pieces of fruit a day as even though fruit is good for you, it does have natural sugars in it which can slow weight loss or even cause weight gain!
