Does anyone have Weet-Bix for breakfast here? How many do you do? Is it wise to have more than 4 or 5?

i feed my daughter 1-2 weetbix a morning with puree fruit and she loves it! i was always told 2 weetbix is the best serve but i guess its up to you. my brothe rin law is a officer in the army and he brought a dogs bowl from the shops and has 12 weetbix for breakfast! no joke- the reason for the dogs bowl is because it fits more in than the standard bowl. but he is physically active all day long.

yeah that is the key Kate.....the difference being how active you are!!

Tom as a quick guide for you....2 weet-bix = 1 carbohydrate serving. (so it is the equivalent to 1 piece of bread or 1/2 cup cooked pasta/rice)

I used to have two weet bix and two bits of toast for breakfast every day. But I was starving a couple of hours later (sometimes I would eat my lunch at 9am!). Needless to say I don't eat them anymore. I find them to be like little puffs of wind  I would imagine that you would need to eat quite a few to get filled up...

Hiya Tom,
I eat two weektbix most workday mornings and I only put a tinsy bit of skinny milk with them ('cause I hate it when they go soggy!) And, confession! I also put a little insy bitsy sprinkle of sugar on top otherwise I cant eat them!!!
Since I dont eat any other bread during the day and only fruit for lunch it all seems to be working!!!

I love wheat-bix with icy cold milk on them most mornings - dare I say it with a little sugar on top. I usually do 2 but if I am peckish I will do 3. I absolutely love them in winter with hot water, milk and, dare I say it again, sugar!!

I usually have em just with hot water, but I have to have at least a bit of toast with them otherwise I'm hungry an hour later! Weetbix actually aren't Low-GI!!! I think they're medium.. Lately I've been having them with stewed plums since our tree has gone mental.

But I usually have 2 :D

I always have 2 weetbix with skinny milk and a sprinkle of sugar, i dont think youde want to eat too many at a time! remember how important portion sizes are in weight loss!
try having 2 in the morning, then a few hours later if your hungry again have 2 more, having 2 small meals will keep your metabolism more steady than 1 large one :)

Hi Tom

One serving is 2 weetbix. I have 3. This is because I keep my breaky around 400 cals and this plus the 1 1/2 cups of skinny milk and LSA gets up around there. If I have 2 then I would normally add a piece of toast to the menu.

As to how many you should have it depends on your goals and how hungry you feel, how much energy you need.

Wow great tip man!

I have heaps of weet-bix. 2 would never fill me up! I have about 6-8 usually. I dont have sugar though, for you people that do, have a natural sugar, honey.

Honey has more kjs than sugar. For instance 1 level tbsp of honey you are looking at 300kjs and for 1 level tbsp sugar you are looking at 220kjs.

I tried weet-bix the first time in 5 years the other week I had 2 with skim milk with a little bit of sugar. I think 4 - 5 is probly a bit to much maby if it is not filling you up enough maby add some fruit to it.
