Cocoa is GOOD for you!

Postby Simmy » Mon Mar 05, 2007 5:39 pm

I was just watching channel 10 news and they were discussing the possible health benefits of having cocoa daily. They are doing a study at the moment as they believe it helps to lower blood pressure. This website has a bit of information on it if anyone is interested.

They were even talking about releasing in the future other cocoa products such as cocoa pasta!

Health benefits and Jarrah chocolate here I come! :)[/url]

I think it is what they add to the cocoa that makes it fattening Jody :D

Yeah it's all the crap they add to it that makes it fattening. That's why dark chocolate is so much better for you - it's usually at least 70% cocoa. Surprisingly enough cocoa in itself is actaully quite bitter, so I wonder if all the sugar you have to add to enjoy the flavour kinda ofsets some of the benefits?

Yeah, through a program through work I discovered that any chocolate that's above 70 or 80% cocoa is good for you... I currently eat 75% chocolate and love the taste of it :D

I am currently reading a book about lowering your blood pressure in 8 weeks, and one of the authors suggestion is to drink hot cocoa or eat dark chocolate on a regular basis.

I am currently using an organic cocoa without all the added chemicals and sugar.
