Delicious juice!

Postby Niglet » Sun Jun 17, 2007 9:01 am

Please tell me it's healthy to drink orange juice.

I can go through a 2 litre bottle in 2 days

I can only offer advice from what I have been told over the years from WW and Weigh Less Naturally and Calorie King....

1 200ml glass of regular orange juice has 98 Calories and 22g sugar. A glass of no added sugar orange juice (such as just juice) has 76 Calories and 16g sugar.

I have always gone by the rule that 1 200ml glass is equivalent to one serving of fruit. After that it should be limited and counted in your daily allowances. Sugar wise drinking around the 1L of orange juice per day is not a big difference in drinking 1L coke per day (86 Cal and 21.6g sugar per 200ml of coke). I know that orange juice is healthier than coke, don't get me wrong, but that amount of sugar per day has to an effect on the scales if it is not being burnt off...just a thought

Everything in moderation is the key.........

i agree with ally

you think that juice is really good for you but too much isnt. one glass should be the quivalent of a piece of fruit. fruit actually has lots of sugar in it.

Nooooooooooo! *sniffle*

Looks like there's no escaping water then. Oh how I shall miss guzzling the stuff!

Here's a question; what about Diet Cordial? It only has >0.01 grams of sugar in it and makes water a bit more interesting. Is that okay to guzzle?

I drink about 1/2 of my water for the day made up as diet lime cordial....I know on WW its zero points, and the Aussie healthy eating guidelines say that your water intake (2ltrs+) can be made up of mostly pure water, but you can include a few glasses of diet cordial, diet soft drink and milk....personally i dont include milk or diet softdrink, only water and diet cordial :) I think you should be fine :) xx

yep you can have diet cordial if thats going to help. i wouldnt get too dependent on it personally, and would probably alternate one glass of cordial to one glass of water. you could try adding a slice of lemon or lime to your water to give a refreshing taste.

Haha! Yeah, I think one of the reasons I can't stand water is 'cos I went on a spree in my teenage years where it was the only thing I would drink. I ended up getting so sick from drinking several litres a day! Silly me!

Yeah I have tried the soda water thing, but just plain water with cordial's probably healthier :)
