Its amazing how much healthier you can make something!

I LOVE toasted sandwiches. Ages ago I would make a sandwich like this:

2 Slices White Bread - 732
2 Slices Full Fat Cheese - 704
Serving of butter on outside of bread to make it crispy - 211
70grams Ham - 410

Total Kilojoules = 2057

Now I make my toasted sandwiches like this:

2 Slices Wholemean Bread - 470kj
1 Slice Extra Light Cheese Coon - 230kj
1 Tin Sweet Chilli Tuna - 471kj

Total Kilojoules: 1171

I cut out nearly half the kilojoules by choosing low fat cheese and only one slice, no butter, changed from white to wholemeal and used tinned tuna instead of processed ham. You could cut it by another 100kj if you used tuna in spring water.

This probably sounds weird, but I was just amazed how every little thing adds up! And my tuna toastie tastes better too!
