Can I ask other people in the challenge:
How do you stay motivated when you have been working hard and doing all the right things, but put on weight?

I have been doing moderate exercise and sticking to my eating plan, but put on 400g yesterday... I know you shouldn't weigh daily, but I need to see progress to stay motivated. So when the scales go up overnight I find it hard to escape the "if I do all the right things and put on weight, what's the point, I may as well be lazy and eat what I like" mindset.

How do you overcome this? What are your tips and tricks?

TIA and good luck :D

Dreaded weigh in Day......so a loss of 0.7kg. Now weighing in at 109kg.

Bit disappointed...but think it come down to a few things, and I know I didn't try as hard this week as I did the week before.

1. I'm hormonal, which may be partly to blame.

2. My partner was away last week, and I don't sleep or eat well while he's away. Calorie Count was still in check, but rather than chicken and salad and a few chips, it was chicken and homemade chips. And I had a pasta dish too, although i stuck to 1 cup of pasta (140g) and then had the leftovers the next day. But I really just think my body does not like carbs. The doc said to stick to low GI diet anyway, so she obviously was correct!

3. I f'd up Friday night...i hadn't eaten enough calories that day, and was too lazy to cook, so I had pizza. 680 cals worth to be exact! Still came in under, but probably should've gave it a miss!

4. Didn't drink enough water! Or exercise enough!

So back to it again this week. Exercising WILL feature everyday!!!

Mrs Bunny - i do the same thing, as bad as it is! I pretty much ignore it...lol, so I don't know why I bother in the first place! I only take notice of the end of week weigh in, though i do start to panic when it's a few days out and i haven't lost much. Then I start upping the exercise. We both should probably stop doing it, it's probably not doing our heads any good!

Hiya MrsBunny,

Normally there is a reason I haven't lost if I am perfectly honest but then there are times that I don't lose or else hit a bit of a wall and weight can even go up.. if I genuinely know that I have done everything right then I just push this to one side and sure as eggs are eggs even if it takes a few days or even up to a week you'll see the rewards on the scale.. it's more of a mental thing I'm afraid but please don't be disillussioned and give up thinking what is the point, that is the sort of mentallity that will just lead to a downward spiral.. you have to remain positive, all I can suggest is don't weigh yourself for a week or if you can't manage that a few days but if you are doing everything right you will eventaully see the results of your hard work.. good luck!

Thanks kimbali and JP1 - I know I shouldn't weigh daily... I also know that building a small amount of muscle weighs more than fat - which is the likely cause of my slight weight gain. You just like to see reward for effort, because the effort is so immense!

I keep a rigid daily food diary so I do know how I'm tracking KJ wise and despite the urge, I'm staying strong. Wednesday will be the test - it's all good and well hanging out at home, it's another to go to a BBQ where you have no control over any of the food being served :?

Hey are we supposed to weigh in here or in the other main forum?

If its here... I have put on 1 kilo. But considering on wednesday I had put on 3, i hink thats ok... I am retaining a censored load of fluid. So in about 2 weeks time If I keep to this challenge I should be bellow 100 kilos! Finally hit that mark that I havent hit since I was 13 years old.

Start of week 2

Last week was pretty good - I wasn't an angel but I certainly wasn't as bad as I have been on a regular basis for quite a while. I've been filling in my food diary as the day progresses (stuck on the fridge) and have a 2ltr bottle of water in the fridge which has helped me up my water intake. I think my skin is looking better as a result of this which is a plus.

Also managed a couple of sessions running about in the park with my partner (trained last year as a personal fitness trainer - yeah I know, I should have no excuse!!!). We went out Wednesday evening to train with my 20month old (they play and I run!) and Dad managed whilst showing off kicking a ball to split his pants from the crotch to the knee - I said carrying on to the park was probably not approriate with kids and indecent pants flapping in the wind so we went home..... I was so good though and went for a run by myself. My goal is a 5km run by the end of the challenge and I tested out a 2.5km run and managed it so I'm half way there on that one.

We also got our first family veggie box deivered and this week I've had more fruit and vegies in one week than the past month put together, more effort to cook but it will be worth it I hope.

I agree motivation can be tough, I've resisted weiging in through the week as I'm avoiding anything that may knock my mindset - excluding the odd glass of wine at the end of the week :?

Anyone got any goals for this week? Good luck everyone and looking forward to sticking this out for the next few weeks with you all.
Starting weight - 88.8kg/195.4lb
Target weight - 68/150lbs

12 week challenge - Target 80kg & 5km run

week 2 86.8/191 = -2kg/4.4lb not enough exercise this week

Good Day, :)

I had my weigh-in today and I only dropped by 0.2kg. SH**!! :x I AM NOT HAPPY WITH THAT RESULT!! After a full kilo drop last weigh-in, I expected something similar this week. But I guess I only have myself to blame. I was naughty last week. I had KFC twice, not to mention a few sandwiches. BIG NO NO! :? So, I guess I have to work harder this week to get back up to my own expectations.

Well, other than that rather nasty surprise at the chemist, I have had a good week. Hit the gym every day last week. :) I had my first Personal Training Session last Thursday. JESUS! :? That was a lesson in endurance and pain. Step Up, Leg Presses, Push Ups, Sprints. JESUS!! I didn't go to the Gym on Friday, I was too bloody sore. :(

This week will be better I hope. Did Zumba today :), tomorrow is TTT (Tummy, Tails and Thighs) Class as well as my weights session. Wednesday is strictly cardio session and I intend to push my limits as well. I am going to push myself from a walk to a jog for 10 minutes out of 15. 2.5 minutes warm up and cool down, and 10 minutes of punishing the thighs. Then it's 15 minutes on the eliptical trainer, and another 15 minutes on the bike. OUCH!!! My muscles are usually screaming by the end of it.

So lets's see;

Starting Weight: 104.1kg
Current Weight: 103.9kg
Total Loss: 0.2kg

But it is well worth it. Cheers. :D

Suck it in Hels, this might just be an anomoly, weigh yourself again tomorrow.. if you have put in the work will be rewarded, you know that from prior experience so just shrug it off and get on with the next week..

I just posted my first weeks' results into the week 1 forum but think they're supposed to be recorded in here. I started at 75kg on the first day of the challenge and weighed in at 74.2kg this Monday. I'm happy with that and my goal is to get to 70kg by the end of the challenge.

PS I've weighed myself every day for the past year and a bit and watched my weight go from 82.3kg down to 73kg (thanks to Christmas still not back there). I know you're not supposed to weigh yourself so often but I found it helped me get to know my body and how much I can get away with. I also kept a daily training diary, writing down everything I ate and drank and what exercise I did and my weight. I haven't done that for a while but I reckon it helped me get into some good habits.

Start weight: 75kg
Week 1 weigh in: 74.2kg
Loss: 0.8kg
Goal: 70kg

Hi all

Not sure if result from weigh in on Monday goes in here or not, but here goes:-
Staring weight 71.2 Kg
Weigh In Mon 69.2kg
Loss of 2.00Kg

I'm really pleased with this, Have decided to try a new way of dieting this time and am restricting carbs - so far so good, but breakfast can be a bit monotonous.
This week I plan to try and include some exercise!
Happy dieting everyone.
