Just wanted to post that I had a little win today - after almost a month, I finally did the first week of Couch to 5K properly today!!

I've been slowly building up from doing every second run interval, to two runs then a longer break, and this afternoon I finally did all the runs! I've been struggling a bit with really bad side stitches, so I focussed on my breathing, walked slower when it was really bad and breathed in to my stomach. Success!

Anyway, it might not seem like much to some, but it's a big step for me :D

Good on you, Kitty! Which programme do you use? I'm using 'get running' ipod app and find it great.
I just finished week 5 today which was 20 minutes uninterupted running with a warm up and cool down. I dreaded it but it went really well. I stopped for about ten seconds at the half way mark to swig some water but that's about it. :D

Thanks! I use two at the moment, the C25K app, which tells me when to walk and when to run, and also Run Keeper, which tracks how fast I go and calories and all that. I treated myself and signed up for Run Keeper Elite ($19.95 per year, not too bad), which gives you progress reports and compares your fitness as you go along. I love it, because when I feel like I'm not getting anywhere I can see that I really am! I can't even imagine running 20 minutes non-stop, well done! It must be so satisfying, I can't wait to get there, amazing! :D I'm thinking about signing up for a 5km fun run at the end of September but I'm not sure if that's being too ambitious - especially considering how long it's taken me to do stage one!

Hi all,

Just found this challenge and was wondering whether I could still join at this late stage??? I wanted to start something today and my target end date is around the end of July.., not sure how this works in with the rest of the group. If ok, I will give you all my details and the (high) numbers.

Hoping to hear shortly,
jetje :|

(btw, the details of ticker factory are incorrect and will need to be desperately updated... )

Hi everyone,

So I weighed in this morning at 96.4kg, that's a 1.5kg loss! I've been working really hard so it's good to see it on the scales :D

Hope everyone else is having a good week and welcome to Jetje! This is a great challenge to keep motivated!

Ok, I have a reason to be extra good this week! One of the reasons I started this challenge was to surprise my boyfriend at the end of his 10 week prac because I didn't think I'd be seeing him for all of it. Well, now I'm seeing him next weekend! I've been trying to put him off the scent this whole time, like when he asks how my diet is going I'll say, "Oh, not too well, I've been so stressed I just can't be bothered running..." LIES. I really want to be under 95kg by the time I see him, he's going to be so shocked! I'm so giddy I have to use extra exclamation marks!!!

So here's my plan for a big loss:

ZERO refined carbs (yes, that means breakfast too)
ZERO sweet foods (only exceptions is fruit)
AT LEAST four cardio sessions, three of which will be C25K
DAILY strength exercises (I usually do 50 situps and a 60 second plank as soon as I get out of bed, then morning and night I do either 30 push ups, 30 tricep dips, 30 squats or 30 lunges)

I'm ridiculously excited. Of course, this will all probably be followed by a weekend of chocolate, wine and bed lazing but some things are just worth breaking the diet for :D

So my numbers for this week are:

Last week: 119.3
current weight: 118.7

Still small losses but at the same time they are starting to add up...

CW: 100kg. No change. Hmm... was on site this week... thought i'd naturally just sweat it out but seems I probably ate a bit more as was hungrier & changed sleeping patterns & didn't do any exercise after 12 hr days out in the field... oh well... back into it this week.

A terrible week for me i lacked energy and motivation and went to the gym once and did not eat the best ,a big turn around from my attitude of the last two or three weeks where i was ready to take on the world, but at least i lost weight went from 89.9 to 89.6 so i did not put on weight at least.

On Edit > Whoops just checked i was 88.9 last week not 89.9,,bugger,,

Didnt think that I was going to do overly well this week. Ive only done light exercise and I had a drinks night on Saturday with some mates.
But did my weigh-in first thing this morning prepared for the worse only to be completely shocked, in a good way :D
Last week I was: 81.1kgs
Currently I am: 79.5kgs
:D :D :D :D
A loss of 1.6kgs.... WOOOOHOOOO
And to make it even better getting to a weight under 80kgs (even if it was 79.9kgs) was a mini goal of mine and to have reached that has made me even more determind to reach my goal :D :D :D

A big congrats to everyone on their losses and best of luck for week 6 :P
