Question about boobs and periods???

Postby Playboy_bunny » Mon Jun 18, 2007 2:15 pm

Hey ppl :)
Well, I jsut have a question. I got my first period at 11, so I have been getting them for well over 12 years. I have never EVER had sore or tender boobs, not even when pregnant or breast feeding...anyway, all of a sudden last month (and now again this month as of today) I have had the sorest (word? lol) boobs ever! They ache and they are so tender and sore...there are no lumps or discolorations or anything, and its only at ttom....has this happend to anyone else? Do you think i should get it checked out? Its just annoying! LOL :D

i don't get that every month, but most months i do. kinda achey and sensitive i guess is the best way of describing it!

i'm pretty sure it's fairly normal (and it's good you do self-checks) but i guess the best thing is that if anything is really out of the ordinary, it doesn't hurt to get a doctors opinion. or i think most state health authorities have freecall numbers where you can speak to nurses.

That's my warning sign - as soon as my breasts are sore and tender, I know I'm about to get my period. But this has always been the case for me. Maybe get it checked by your doc to make sure it's nothing serious.

I think it's a fairly normal symptom, but it is always best to get things checked out - better to be cautious. When it's that time of the month for me, my breast are so sore and tender, and they swell in size, they go up a cup size  Every woman is different and the body is changing over time. So this could very well be just another side effect.

My boobs get really sore during ovulation and they get horrid (sore and lumpy) during my periods. They get so sore I have to wear a bra to bed (and my boobs are not overly huge!!). I have had ultrasounds/mammograms and there is nothing wrong with them - BLASTED PERIODS!!!!!!!!!
2008 - my year to be great!!

Yep I get the bowling ball boobs and they can get quite tender and sore. Sometimes they get so sore and tender that I can't even stand my bra on and just wear a sports bra so the girls can hang loose..... 8)

Postby bigchick99 » Thu Jun 28, 2007 1:06 am

Hi All,

I have heard the ads on the radio & gave the boob eze stuff a go. My daughter is a teenager & she is also using it. The stuff makes my sore mellons much happier during my period. I know the names a bit funny but the stuff is bloody great.... It can't be that bad its in Take 5 this week on the health pages....
Cheers

Yep, it's those old hormones again. Fluid retention prior to onset of menstruation causes the breast tissue to swell and expand which stretches the nerve endings thus causing the aching and tenderness.....the same happens in the uterus.

Increased levels of oestrogen promote release of prostaglandins (causes inflammation) which draws more fluid to the area thus causing the tissues swell.
