Sleep

Postby Maraver » Wed Jun 15, 2005 7:20 am

Sleep is something I do not get much of, I have issues in my life ( don't we all) that are totally out of my control but I have trouble dealing with them and my brain at night just does not stop, twice a week I start work at 5am and my alarm goes off at 3.50am so I need sleep, after about 6 nights of tossing and turning I am lucky to get about 5 hours, like this mornig I have been up since 4.30am and I am wide awake I could run a marathon, its the best part of the day for me energy wise, the doctors have giving me sleeping tablets but I don't want to jump on the bandwagon with them
any suggestions
Pam

My mum has the same problem . The doc gave her sleeping tablets . They worked for a week before she got immuned to them . Mum has a warm bath before bed and a hot drink . It doesnt always work both it helps She stay up other wise until she feels tired then jumps in bed .Again it doesnt always work .The doc told her to try to tune in her body clock and go to sleep at the same time and wake up at the same time most days to establish some sought of pattern . I will hit her up for more tips when i speak to her on the phone tonight
cheers jules

I used to work wierd hours too, 12 hour shifts through the middle of the night and stuff. It really messes up your body clock doesn't it? My doctor gave me sleeping tablets and I hated them. I felt like I was more unconscious than asleep and so it wasn't really restful. I found getting some exercise during the day helped me sleep better. Also, making sure you really relax and unwind before bed. A glass of wine in the spa works well!
