You know I think I am on to something here
for the first time in my life I feel in control
because I am only thinking about three things
I am not telling myself to starve not drink
just do it in moderation I am having a glass of champers or maybe two but this is something I want to do for the rest of my life its part of my life style walked this morning Andy cooked a nice brekky sausage and egg etc we had a sandwich for lunch and we are now sharing a bottle of champagne and we are having curry and rice for tea, home made and I will eat sensibly which I think gives me my 3 points
:D

There's this American guy named Bob Greene. He's a personal trainer and he's written a couple of books 'Get With the Program' and his new one 'Total body makeover'. He's been on Oprah a few times too. He has a great attitude towards weight loss and before you even get to the weightloss stuff he makes you sit down and really analyse why you're overweight in the first place. Once you've done a bit of soul searching and identified all of your excuses for being fat then those excuses become obsolete, leaving you to get down to the business of losing weight. I was really inspired by his thinking. He advocates regular exercise, nothing out of the ordinary, but the really interesting bit I found was the diet:

1~ Have an eating cutoff time 2-3 hours before bedtime and don't eat anything after this time.

2~ Eat a nourishing breakfast

3~ Drink at least six glasses of water a day

4~ No alcohol (this one's for the twelve-week duration of the 'Total body makeover' program and he does say alcohol in moderation is okay at other times)

5~ Make eating a conscious act, that means thinking before you open the fridge door "Am I hungry or am I bored?" and making healthy food choices "Do I really need that chocolate bar?"

And that's it! Really simple. He also has lots of really motivating stories about the people he has worked with and it all makes perfect sense and it's so easy to apply. I'd kind of forgotten about that one until you said how much easier it is to just eat good foods and not worry too much about it. I might re-read it. It's a good book if anyone's intereseted.
