Postby Cass101 » Sun Sep 30, 2007 5:12 pm

Arghhhh! I just threw up blood. I'm not too worried because it was bright red, meaning it probably originated from the stomach not further down but I would like to know what caused it!. lol we don't have a Dr open on the weekend and endoscopes are only preformed in the town once a month what ever the problem is it would probably fix itself before I can get it checked!

Sorry just had to complain to someone, hubby is at work!

A lady at work had that as well - her husband took her to emergency by ambulance - found out it was from coughing alot and she ruptured a blood vessel which caused the bright red blood. She is AOK at the moment.

lol I work at the hospital and am studying to be an RN so not hitting the panic button yet! I think I have either got an ulcer from all this uni stress or it's my esophagus or stomach bleeding cause I threw up (not on purpose!).

lol about hitting the wrong button I do that all the time in MSN

I hope everything turns out ok. Vomiting is not fun at the best of times.

ru coughing lots at the mo? maybe you have irritated your throat some how? is the blood was from your stomach it would be brown looking because the blood mixing with your stomach acids makes it go a funky brown colour eww
hope your feeling better soon!

Thanks! I think it was stomach blood and when I threw up the bleed only just started because I thew up again and I had a small amount of the classic 'coffee ground' blood. Arghhh I have to go to work in the morning. Oh well I'll check surgery and find out when the next day for endo's is! I just hope it's not an ulcer because I have enough stress without worrying about that! hehehe yummymummy you can guess that your an RN!

like i said above I hope its not! but it could be because I am doing a full load at uni plus and extra subject (studying to be RN too!) working full time and looking after my son. I have had 6 assessments due this week so have been stressing, and not eating as much as I should. lol I have a stomach ache now but I think it's cause I've been throwing up!

I'll see how I go, I don't really want to go to the hospital tonight and like I said they only do endo's here once a month so they wouldn't do anything anyway!

ZSOunds like you have a small bleed from somewhere between your mouth and duodenum. Coffee grounds take time to develope - a oesophagel tear would have copious amounts of bright blood (common when vomiting lots); a fresh gastric bleed would show pink/streaky vomit. Coffee grounds indicate longer term issues. Probably a small ulcer, that can be easily treated! See your GP on monday...... or sooner if it continues!

just happens I have spent the afternoon syudying the oesophagus.......
