Ok, now I hope this topic doesnt offend anyone, and if It does, pm me and I will remove it :)
My sister and I were chatting today, and she told me that she is going tonight to have her monthly brazillian wax. I told her I would be waaay too embarrassed (not only cos of my size, but cos its down there u know  lol) and sitting here thinking about it, every single girl I know gets a brazilian or shaves...I have always wanted to have it done, but felt mortified at the thought of a waxer down there  and I cant shave ANYWHERE cos I get ingrown hairs really badly (I have to wax legs and armpits myself, yeeeouch on the armpits! and it takes forever!) I was just wondering if any of you get them and if u are embarrassed to do it? Thanks girls! ;) xxx

we have spoken about colon irrigation and labour and births before gracie so i dont think anyone would be offended but if they are im sure they will notify you!

i remember jen speaking about it on here before how she gets EVERYTHING waxed. i wouldnt be able to do it. my sister and 17 year old neice get it done. firstly ouch! and secondly i hate anyone down there- (its different when you are pregnant because you have to do it for the sake of your health and your childs LOL) but ok ive heard it feels better down below after it but it has to eventually grow back right? and then you have to go through it all again! waxing leaves my skin irritated so i have to shave.

I get it done and I love it!

I'll be completely honest with you, IT HURTS!!!!!

But it doesn't hurt as bad as you would expect.

I only just started doing it last year as I too was embarrassed having someone down there. But my friend was going to go for her first one and she talked me into it.

The regrowth isn't prickly surprisingly and there's things you can do about ingrown hair such as using a loufa or one of those exfloiating gloves.

Go somewhere that specialises in it because I have had 1 bad experience with 1 place that didn't do them very often.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask me!

I have never had it done... But all of my friends do it regularly.

I want to! Kinda sexy! Ha ha. I've promised myself that when I feel more comfortable in my skin... That that's going to be my reward. Probably when I hit 80. My sister said she'd come with me!

Good question, Grace.

I shave which haha my poor hubby had to do it for my thru my 3 pregnacies, but its a nearly every day kinda of thing, when u use shaving cream and it is so much smoother but ive never had it waxed as its hurts enough getting my eyebrow's done let alone ANY other part of my body.

I want to... been a bit of a wuss, I hate pain :P

I get my legs waxed regularly though. I was too embarrassed to go at 140kg but I started going again after I lost about 15kg and started gaining confidence.. realised that they don't care what your legs look like!

It hurts, but you get used to it, and it's not so bad. And it is TRUE, my hairs grow back finer and it takes longer each time, and I have a few patches where hair doesn't grow anymore. And I used to be a daily leg shaver too!

Waxing irritates my skin as well, but I get them to use lots of moisturiser afterwards and I moisturise them well over the next day or so and they settle down.

I'd never go back to waxing!

The Brazilian - am considering getting it soon actually. Always been wary, but I guess I'm willing to try anything once.

Nikki - might pm you for the name of the place you went?

Haha what a coincidence! I just got my 4-weekly brazilian wax today :)
It doesn't hurt as much as you'd think it would! However my eyebrow wax afterwards does feel like a tickle compared to it :P
Mine hurt more today cos I had a rather large and painful ingrown hair :(
But they are honestly not that bad!

I reckon the benefits definately outweigh the pain!!

Haha I got mine waxed today as well!
It does hurt the first time, but as long as you go religiously every 4 weeks it starts to get better. I missed a few weeks cos my therapist was on holidays, so today it hurt really bad.
As for ingrowns, exfoliating works really well (again, only if you do it religiously, unlike me :? ), and some places sell creams to prevent ingrowns as well.
My therapist is really friendly. I initially was only getting my eyebrows done, and then I got up the courage to book a bikini wax. She was really great (i think she suspected I was a little nervous). If you can get a great therapist it makes a huge difference.

Im the opposite to everyone! I don't want to get my legs waxed because of my size, and yet I'll let her wax "down there".

I have had a few waxes and it was actually my mum who talked me into it( of all people!!)
Yeh it hurts but my biggest thing is that i have had 2 kids and lost all dignity down there anyway. As long as you go to a place you can trust and the girls are nice then you will have no dramas.
I love them in summer because i personally feel so much cleaner when you start to sweat and stuff.

I have been waxing 'down there' for about 10 years - at first I was mortified about anyone being down there for that purpose - but qucikly got over it when my waxer told me how many they did a day - at the salon at that time in Sydney it was 40+. If you have a good beautician you already see have a chat about your concerns - I am sure she will ally your fears straight away - as for pain - I think my legs hurt more! I prefer strip wax down there to hot wax (some other will say different) and I get everything done and the front is the most painful area....hope that helps!

yeah the top front bit hurts the most. The areas you think would hurt are actually the least painful.

I actually prefer the hot wax to the strip.

If you're really that concerned about going to see someone to do it, you can always do it yourself. You can get special waxes for brazilian DIY's but I'd advise getting a good quality wax for waxing any area cause better quality = easier to use.
35kg lost. (November 2005 - October 2006)
15kg gained again (as at October 2010).
