HI jules

i can get really bad breakouts from my PCOS. i was told to use acne cleansers etc from the chemist and supermarket to try and clear it up- it didnt work though because mine is more hormonal than actual dirt etc in my pores. you could try the chemsit stuff and see if it works? are you on the pill? i find it helps my skin as well as drinking lots of water!

best wishes it sucks i know!

I know this sounds really weird, but I usually get big ones on my neck and lower face when I am due for "those things"!! I just squeeze them and they go away when they are ready. Drinking plenty of water will not cure them, but it definately helps to keep the skin clear. Best of luck with them mate!!

My daughter bought that expensive stuff 'Proactive' as there were so many TV claims from celebs that it saved their careers
It didn't work.
In my opinion acne is definately a hormonal imbalance that only the doctor can clear up with a blood test and the correct hormones replaced. Antibiotics works but it's just a temporary fix.

hehehehe Jules, much more water and the South East Queensland corner will be following you everywhere trying to get the excess water off of you!!! LOL

I guess that it is just a matter of finding what works...I hope you find something that works for you soon!! I don't think it is a case of vanity at all mate, there is nothing wrong with trying to look nice.

I think you will find it is to do with your hormones Jules! The last couple of years I had been getting the old zits again!!! Once you get to 30 all that horrid stuff happens again! The horrid periods and unfortunately the acne. I would always get a few a week or so before my period and until just after it finished. Then a few weeks later the whole process started again! But since going on Yasmin I have hardly had any pimples. The very odd one but thats it. I went on the pill to control the horrid periods, and of course skip as many as possible!!! Its been good and I dont believe it has made me put on any extra weight. I did research a lot before I decided on Yasmin and it said that in testing they had noticed that the skin cleared up and not significant weight gain. Hence I went with that one. Only prob is that it isn't on the PBS and costs a small fortune. But I figure it is worth it. Speaking of which I have forgotton to take it yet again this morning. Every couple of weeks I forget the damn thing!!! Just as well my tubes are tied!! Better go do it before I forget again.

Hi jules

i had implanon in my arm for 2 years ( few years ago) and i had it removed due to the excessive amount of weight i put on, the moods and its didnt do anything for my skin -probably made it worse! do you have any of those symptoms? i had it put in too because i kept forgetting to take the pill :S

hey the best thing i used was from a chemist. its costs $20 and you have to ask for it as they stock it behind the counter.

Ask for Benzac 10% - its got benzoyl peroxide which is used in all acne clearing products but it has more so it is more effective.

i found it to work by applying it on spots everyday, and within a week definately clearer skin :)

definatey worth the money.

Try http://www.acne.org it is a fantastic site has reviews about heaps of products advice etc

I am doing the skin routine suggested (2.5% benz peroxide), gentle cleanser, oil free moisturiser and i have noticed a huge difference

All my blackheads are gone some pimples have come through but they were from pores that have been blocked for ages so its good to get it out and dried up

Its a fantastic website, I use it all the time before I buy a new moisturiser etc.

Hey Jules,

I had the most beautiful skin upuntil I turned 18 and then it turned into a festering pot of cystic acne. They used to hurt... alot!
I am now 27 and it that 10 years I tried natural therapies, Ro-accutane (super duper but evil anti-biotics), over the counter products, etc.
I tried Proactiv and it worked for me, really well. I have been using it now constantly for 18 months. But I do agree also with Dolly in the hormone balance area, it has alot to do with it! I am older now and had a baby 18 months ago. And we are all individuals, our bodies are so different. I say trial and error. I also had that that Implanon thing and turned into some crazed women. Had it removed after 6 months.

I know how you feel when you see those evil bumps on your face, I understand completely, here when you need a chat.
