Welcome to the dark side Freddy

Yup, hypothyroid would definitely suck. For those of us Aussies who have 'normal' thyroid function though, taking kelp can assist it to function to its optimum level (kelp is high in iodine which tends to be low in Aussie grown foods because our soils are older and have less iodine). Not sure if it's advisable if you're on thyroid meds though?

15kg gained again (as at October 2010).

Yeah, I'm on meds, so I'm not taking anything extra. I will discuss this kelp stuff with my doctor however, see what he thinks of it. Besides that, I'm working on a cycling scheme, which should help improve my thyroid function as well.

If it's large, you might want to get it checked. Might solve a bit of your weight loss problems, if you start taking meds for that.

i went to see jy doctor about it afew years ago and he says that it is just big and that is normal for somone my age and that it should go down as I get older, my older half sister said she had a thyroid problem only peiople that have had thyroid probs in the past seem to notice how big it is, if I go to my doctor he may just say the same thing, I was 21 when I got it checked and now I'm 25 and it still hasn't really gone down in size
