2012 - Time for a change

Postby SugarandSpice » Fri Jan 06, 2012 1:29 pm

Hi All,

I am new to this site and wanted to start my own thread to update each day/week about how I am going.

I am determined to make some changes in my life this year.

This is my story

I am 42 years old
Single mother of 3 teens and full time carer for the oldest who is disabled.
I weigh 128.2kg and am 169cm tall. Need to lose at least 50kg's.
I have severe obstructive sleep apnoea, diabetes type 2 and high blood pressure - all of which my Dr believes could be relieved by weight loss.
I have tried so many things and so many times with no success, which is why I have finally succumbed to trying duromine (metermine).
I am hardly ever hungry.
I am always tired ( think this is due to sleep apnoea and diabetes - which I am treating but it does not seem to be improving).

Well, today is day 1 on metermine for me... Took it about 5.30am this morning.
I have read a lot of your posts (not all though), I don't appear to be having any side affects - no headaches or palpitations, although I do feel a little strange... I am actually still really tired and actually feeling a little hungry which is unusual for me. I think I may go make a sandwich for lunch...

All the best to everyone and look forward to getting to know some of you better.

Vicki

Ok,

well second day and still feel ok. the weird feeling I had yesterday - I realised it was nerves.. you know that empty feeling in the pit of your stomach? Anyway it didn't last long so all good.

Had trouble sleeping last night, but that happens to me a lot anyway.

Am still having naps during the day, but not AS tired as I normally would be.

Thank you SO MUCH!!!

I slept much better last night. Still woke up a few times - but that is because I have 2 new puppies and they wake me a few times a night. I even slept in this morning and am going to push through the day and not have a nanna nap today!!

So no real side affects. Am not hungry - but wasn't hungry before as that is one of the side affects of diabetes meds anyway! Am forcing myself to eat little meals. Had banana on toast for brekkie this morning and really struggled with it as am not used to eating breakfast. Felt sick even looking at it, but I forced it down!

Thanks

Well, still have some tiredness, but have been trying to avoid afternoon naps, although today I was feeling quite sick and so laid down for about an hour..

Have been eating three meals a day - which is new and feel quite good about this all.

One problem I have that I need to get over is that every morning, I weigh myself :(

Think I will get my son to take the scales away and only give them to me once a week!!!

Take care
Vicki

I've had to stop myself from getting on the scales as well.

Have taken the batter out and my partner has it in her bag. It was the only way!!!!

Eating brekkie does definitely get easier. Two weeks in and I really look forward to my egg on toast in the morning!
