1 piece Mountain Bread (any variety!)
1 small apple
spices - cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, any you like
Grate apple, then spread out evenly on one half of the mountain bread. Sprinkle spices over the apple, then fold the bread over. Toast in a sandwich press, or a non-stick frying pan (no oil/butter) until the apple is hot and slightly cooked. You could also add sultanas if you like them (I don't!).
You could also alternately layer several slices of Mountain Bread, grated apple and spices in a baking dish and cook in the oven. You could even add other dried fruit, or for a bit more of an exciting dessert, brush the top with a little melted butter, and sprinkle with spices and a little sugar - the variations are endless. But the basic concept is healthy and might just satisfy those pastry cravings
