As to copyright, you aren't posting the entire book so should be ok, and the recipes are not being made available for resale or profiteering, just sharing them in a public forum. It is arguable that we are sharing among friends if we want to analogise it that way, as we would do in person. I will make a note to check out the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth) to see what the go is with this or if we're breaking any laws.

The worst thing that can happen is a demand to stop posting her particular recipes, but because we are of the www, there is so much information posted that there are no definite rules & regulations, as internet law is very ambiguous.

In regards to each individual recipe that is added from a particular recipe book the best bet (if you want to play it safe) is to reference it: (Authors last name, initial. Year of publication. Title of book, Publishers, Place of Publication.)[i

Dee wrote:I would kinda think that if people saw a recipe that they liked from this site they might then think 'I should get that book,' thus increasing her sales.

I know I wasn't convinced on buying the BL recipe book until Ally started reviewing it and telling us about the recipes.

My thoughts, too. This is great marketing for her (at no cost and no effort) and I have never heard of the Symply books before, yet I know now if I see them in a bookstore, I'd definitely tempted to pick one up and buy it.
Just keep moving! And don't be lazy...

They're usually sold at the newsagents - you know where all the Woman's Weekly cookbooks are sold. They're pretty cheap too, I think they're quite good value - although I probably only use about 1/3 of the recipes. (ooh, I sound like an ad LOL) If you're looking for them they're dark blue.

I have heard back from Annette Sym in regards to posting her recipes here....we have the all clear on the condition that not too many are posted (which is fair enough) and that when one of her recipes is posted we make sure that the book and author are put on the recipes (which is what we should have been doing in the first place anyway)....I will spend time over the next few days going over the recipe section and correcting any that may have been missed......all in all I think it is a good result!!
