Perfect for quick evening meals after a hard day, this recipe only takes 20 minutes to prepare with pantry ingredients.
As well as being great tasting and very healthy, this recipe also makes a very low cost meal for two or more.
This recipe is low in fat, low sat fat, low sugar and a good source of protein.
Ingredients
- ½ onion finely chopped
- 2 short cut bacon, no fat
- 1 tsp. olive oil
- 400g (1 can) diced or crushed tomato
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 200g spaghetti
- 1 tsp. worcestershiresauce
- 1 tsp. brown sugar
- ½ tsp.Dried Oregano
- ½ tsp. Dried Marjoram
- Cracked Pepper
- Parmesan Cheese (optional)
Method
- Sauté Onion in Olive oil for 5 mins until softened. Remove from heat then cook the diced short cut bacon until browned.
- Add the onion to the bacon then incorporate the worcestershire sauce to the pan for around 30 seconds, keep stirring.
- Add the can of tomatoes and stir altogether, make sure heat is turned down to simmer. Add garlic, sugar, pepper and herbs. Keep simmering for around 5 mins, if too thick add a little water.
- Boil spaghetti as per instructions.
- Once spaghetti cooked, drain and add to sauce. Option to add some parmesan cheese.
