Mixed Nut and Fruit Porridge Recipe

Porridge is a great weight loss food because it keeps us feeling full for hours and can help us to consume less food throughout the day.

This Mixed Nut and Fruit Porridge recipe is very tasty and will help you get your day off to a great, particularly in winter. As well as providing great nutritional benefit, the yogurt on top also adds a refreshing flavor to the porridge.

This recipe is low in sodium and saturated fats and is a good source of protein.

Healthy Recipes - Mixed Nut and Fruit Porridge Recipe

Recipe Serves:

This Recipe Serves 2.

Recipe Ingredients:

  • 100g rolled oats
  • 20 g almonds
  • 30g sultanas
  • 20g walnuts
  • 40g natural yoghurt
  • 50g orange

Recipe Method:

  1. Place oats with approx 500g water (approx 2 cups), bring to the boil and let sit for about a minute (all of the water should be absorbed).
  2. Add the almonds, walnuts and sultanas to the mixture and mix until combined.
  3. Juice the orange and mix with the natural yoghurt. Cut rind into fine strips and set aside.
  4. Serve porridge in bowls and place yoghurt and orange rind strips on top.
  5. Serve immediately.

Additional Comments:

Even though the amount of fat per 100g in this porridge recipe is relatively high, they are the good type of fat which our bodies need to function. Feel free to substitute the sultanas for raisins if desired.
