Low Fat Apple and Pear Crumble Recipe

This low fat Apple and Pear Crumble recipe is a perfect dessert if you're watching your weight. The combination of pear and apple gives this crumble recipe a refreshingly delicious flavour, and with pears being in season for most of the year, you shouldn't have any problems sourcing them.

This crumble recipe is delicious on its own or served with your favourite vanilla flavoured yogurt.

Healthy Dessert Recipe :  Low Fat Apple and Pear Crumble

Recipe Serves:

This Recipe Serves 6.

Recipe Ingredients:

Base

  • 2 Pears – Packham cut into 1cm cubes
  • 2 Apples – Granny Smith cut into 1cm cubes
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ tsp cornflour
  • 2 tablespoon brown sugar


Crumble Mixture

  • 50g Plain Flour (1/3 cup)
  • 50g Oats (1/3 cup)
  • 50g Brown Sugar (1/3)
  • 4 plain sweet biscuits
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 60g Light Margarine

Recipe Method:

  1. Preheat Oven to 200C. 
  2. Place pear and apples into bowl with vanilla, lemon juice, cornflour and 2 tablespoons of the sugar.  Mix until all coated.  Place into oven proof dish.
  3. To make the topping place the flour, oats, remaining sugar, biscuits, cinnamon into a food processor and pulse until resembles fine crumbs.
  4. Place onto base mixture in dish and bake for approx 25 mins until crispy.

Additional Comments:

Stew an extra portion of the pear and apple mix and add to your breakfast cereal the next day. This mix should keep for at least a few days if refrigerated in an air-tight container.
