Crumpet Poached Egg, Cheese & Tomato Recipe

Eggs are back on the menu as more nutritionists and dietitians agree about the important role they can play in a healthy diet.

If you use only the white of the egg and low-fat or reduced fat cheese you can minimise the calories if you are trying to lose weight.

This snack is so tasty you shouldn't need to spread butter or margarine on the crumpet.

Crumpet Poached Egg, Cheese & Tomato Recipe

Recipe Serves:

This Recipe Serves 1.

Recipe Ingredients:

  • 1 crumpet
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 small tomato sliced
  • 1 slice low-fat or reduced fat tasty cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Recipe Method:

  1. Toast crumpet in toaster until browned.
  2. Place sliced cheese and tomato on toast.
  3. Poach egg in small fry pan with simmering water and cook until desired.
  4. Place poached egg on top of crumpet and serve immediate.
  5. Season with pepper and salt.

Additional Comments:

Poached eggs are very quick and easy to cook and are obviously cooked with no fat added i.e. margarine / oil.

The recipe is also delicious served on English muffins or your favorite thick crusty bread.
