Rewards for reaching goals!

Postby Leishkin » Mon Aug 28, 2006 4:33 pm

Hi guys and dolls,

this is a little something I picked up from a book I read by A.J rochester - I think it's good to have little perks to look forward to, so I love the idea of having 'rewards' for progress... here's my list:

Lose 5kg - Buy a new CD/DVD/Something I want
Lose 10kg - Get a haircut/dye or Manicure/Pedicure
lose 15 kg - Have a full-body massage
lose 20kg - Go out for a reeeeally nice dinner with my man
Lose 25kg - Buy the box set of DVDs I want
Lose 30kg - My Partner buys me a present of his choice ;)
Lose 35kg - buy new runners (if you didn't need them before now)
Lose 40kg (my goal!) - have a HUGE party/go away for a weekend

or if you don't want to go just by numbers, you can do it this way:

go down a dress size -
go down 2 dress sizes - etc...
lose 10 cm from waist -
lose 20cm from body measurements (adding up waist/legs/arms,etc) - etc...
work out 3 times a week for a whole month -
walk 10 kms in total
jog 10kms
run 10kms.. etc...

I just think it's easier for me to look at short term goals than a whopping great 40 kilos :) hope this idea has helped some people!

How good is that book? She definately motivated me to get off my ass!! Haha what a wicked present for reaching your ultimate goal! Party time haha.

Lose 2kg - Buy myself the White Guess Wallet
Lose 4kg - Get my shoes off lay-by
lose 6kg - Buy a new work outfit
lose 8kg - Buy myself some new cds
Lose 10kg - New Digital Camera
Lose 12kg - New Dress for my 18th (to go with guess wallet and shoes off lay-by) and me and a friend going sky-diving

That feels much better to write down presents for myself! xx

I have 2 things I want in life, one is to get thinner and one is to get out more often, so I combined the two into my reward system.

Lose 2 kg = I go to the movies.
Lose 5 kg = go away for a weekend.
Lose 10kg = go away for a 2 week holiday.

This is a cool idea. I usually got new clothes to celebrate losing weight. As a result I have a range of sizes in my wardrobe from 8-18 lol!

I love the charm bracelet idea as it will also serve as an achievement reminder once the weight is lost.

yeah, that charm bracelet thing is a fantastic idea!

But, I'm also attempting to save money at the same time I'm losing weight.. not doing well :P

So my rewards (from now on) will be:

Lose 5kg - Buy a CD
Lose 10kg - Get a massage
Lose 15kg - Buy a new book!
Lose 20kg - Get a facial
Lose 25kg - Buy a pair of gorgeous earrings (within budget)
Lose 30kg -Get a manicure/pedicure
Lose 35kg - Call in sick and take a whole day off to soak in the bath
Lose 40kg - Go to Matsuri (great Japanese restaurant) for dinner
Lose 45kg - Buy a concert ticket (that I will probably want at the time!)

GOAL WEIGHT! - Hell, I'm throwing a party!

I'll buy new clothes as I go, as I need them!

NOW, I'm so excited to lose weight!

buying clothes is actually a bit of a pain if you are losing steadily. I suggest vinnies shopping. You can just buy enough to get you through, cheap, and then can give them back when you shrink out of them again!
35kg lost. (November 2005 - October 2006)
15kg gained again (as at October 2010).
Back to the drawing board - Let's do this thing!

"You can't change the winds, but you can change the sails"

"Reach out and take control of what lands in your lap"

I have had my first reward planned for about the last month. And it's finally coming up next Friday night :D I have a seminar on in the city for work on that day, so I'm going to stay on afterwards and party it up in the city! Booked a hotel room yesterday also 8)

I haven't been out anywhere in such a long time owing to the fact that I had nothing to wear because all my clothes were too small :( So I'm really looking forward to this! I thought I'd be celebrating 52.5kg... but I passed that a couple of weeks ago. So, it's looking like being a 51kg celebration, if I play my cards right over the next 7 days :D

My next reward after that is a 90 minute deluxe facial at the Werribee Mansion Spa. I was given a voucher for my birthday back in May and I've been saving it for when I've lost weight. It has to be used by the end of October, so hopefully at that stage I'll be celebrating 50kg.

As for 49kg, my goal weight, I'm not too sure yet. A night out on the town is definitely on the cards... I can't remember the last time I went out dancing!!

After I have maintained that weight for a month, I will allow myself to start searching for great deals on cruise holidays... mmm Hawaii, or Tahiti maybe? Depends how much money is available, but I'll certainly look :D

And moving further into fantasy land... I'd love to get liposuction on my belly and inner thighs. This fat will certainly still remain after I reach my goal weight, it's pretty much permanent. I'd want to be pretty sure that I was fully on top of things and that my weight was never going to increase again before I took that path though... :?

Rewards are a brilliant idea. I'm only just starting my final weight loss journey (day 2 today) but I successfully quit smoking 18 months ago and the rewards thing worked really well for that (1 week non-smoking = new CD, 2 weeks = book etc).

I have got my rewards all worked out for this new challenge just like I did for the quit-smoking challenge. I am going to have a nice collection of CDs, books & jewellery by the time I'm through losing the huge amount of weight I have to get rid of. :D
Cheers, Mary

If I could find a ticker for measurements it would say I'm on the way from a waist measurement of 134cm to one of 70cm (currently at 129cm)
