stop weighing yourself so often!! :D :D :D
try doing it once every three days, or once a week!

ahh yes i can see how that would be difficult!
i have decided to only weigh myself once a week. my weight was going up and down and frustrating me!
what do you know about fluid retention?

see i think maybe i am subconsciously thinking that if i dont weigh myself I will be back up to 92kgs and that scares the hell outta me!! I weigh in once a week on a Wednesday when i see my consultant but I cant help myself...

Hmm what do I know about fluid retention... when I drink 2L a day I weigh less int eh evening than if i dont drink much! Pretty much, your body is 60% or thereabouts water, (mine is 55% at the moment I need to work on it!) if you dont drink anough water for your body to replace lost fluids your body "holds onto" it thus you are "retaining fluid".. things like lots of exercise, eating salty foods, hot weather, drinking alcohol etc make you need more fluid than usual so you need to drink lots and lots of water!

I know that if I go on a cheese eating, binge drinking session I am much heavier not necessarily from "fat" but from my body retaining fluid to balance out the sodium etc :)

thank you so much court!
the reason why i was asking was on sat i went for a run before breakfast. (on sat in perth it was around 26deg by the time i went for my run! hot hot hot!) i didnt have to much to drink before my run either and because i dont typically run in the heat (usually in the evening or early morning), so i didnt realise what i was doing to my body.
so it was a 6km run and i got to 3km and got really dry in the mouth and exhausted (read: dehyrated) and stopped to walk to the next fountain (about 300m away) then i started to run again and stopped a little after to walk. i ended up running the last 2km back to my car. had a drink at the fountain, walked around, streched and sat in the shade for a moment.
later on at home i drank alot of water very quickly and had a high protein breakfast of 1 peice of multigrain toast, some baked beans, an egg & some cooked tomato.
after that i started to feel really ill, to what i found out later was heat stroke. it lasted most of the day, getting hot and dizzy. the sickness wore off earlier tho.
i ate well the entire day but didnt drink too much water. then i weighed myself the next day and i put on around a kilo! so i was really p/o'd and confused.
i guess i can put it all down to water retention now.
will make sure i keep the fluids up at all times now. not just work days!
thanks court!

wow are you feeling ok now??
Yes definitely sounds like a case of your body retaining fluids!! I can drink 2L of water whilst playing sport sometimes (im talking 2hours of intense comp sport) and come home and weigh myself pre-shower and be lighter than when i started!! I am a sweating machine!! Fluid is sooo very important!!! Dont mention it! I think we get so preoccupied with the number on the scaels that we dont take into account the benefits certain things have on our body :)

Hey Court,
Just a thought - did u say u recently starting doing weights training again? That could be why your weight is so inconsistent... I found that I gained almost 2kg of muscle when I stepped my strength training up, but my measurements and BF % still went down.. just a thought :) xx

Thanks Fi - weights lasted all of one week hahah I did my shoulder again!

well I was 66.2 or something this morning!! My goodness had a big day of drinking, very little eating and then a lot of illness ensued! Hence a 2.5kg weight loss!

I assume mostly I am ridiculously dehydrated!!!

YAY MJ CHRISSY! Love ya xo

Xmas eve and I weighed in at 67.5kg this morning... Not too bad! Considering how I have been going lately - plan of attack tomorrow is to drink LOTS of water in between meals and im going to go for a big long kayak during the day and spend alot of the day in the pool!! Plus we will probably end up walking home as well or jogging after a few too many champas and coronas!! Yay!!

Merry Christmas everyone!!!!!!!!! xoxoxoxoox
