And I've just noticed this post.

It's interesting how people resign themselves to becoming less fit and healthy as they age - but there are things they can do to turn that belief around and actually improve themselves (relative to their age) as they get older.

I'd wager that had Blitz not decided a few years ago to confront his weight issues he would be feeling a lot older right now.

I have...he is doing okay!
Had a few things on my plate that needed sorting - I'm back now.

One of my sisters (who was born on my 1st birthday) sent me a card with "56" writ big on the front so that I couldn't deny it.
Inside the card it read:

Your FIFTIES are a time
for remembering,
like when...
-you could touch your toes
-you could eat hot spicy food
without side effects
-you could run for the bus

now all you've got is memories

Ironically, all of it was true for my 20's, 30's and 40's but not for my 50's!
None of it's true except for the bit about...er...I forgot which bit.

The truth of the matter Marc is far more dire than that.
I fully believe if I hadn't confronted my weight problem when I did that I wouldn't have had any years left to live!

My plate is always healthy!
No matter what goes on in my life - keeping a healthy lifestyle is a separate thing.

This thing that a lot of overweight people have of linking food and mood is just poor lifestyle practice.
In the old days when I was sad I ate too much of the wrong foods (which we cop out of our responsibility by calling them "comfort foods")...but when I was happy I still was able to muster up enough enthusiasm to mightily pig out with the best of them.
Bottom line - I didn't need any excuses to overeat...I came - I saw - I ate!
If the food was in the trough...his piggy's trotters were in the trough too!

and that it is time to stop playing around with your health!
