top effort,

Good effort, I thought Maryland and Delaware might have been hard to fill. Like you say we got a big hole in the mid west we need someone to have visited but at least me filled in tricky bits like the deep south and New England.

My five favourite out of the way places.

1. Camden.. Maine... beautiful coastal town on the bay, went whale watching in an old schooner
2. Virginia City... Nevada (o/s pf Reno)... wow! found this place just driving, you might have heard of it from old episodes of Bonanza, its the 'city' that built San Francisco, high up on a mountain, 35,000 people use to live here digging for silver. Theres now 300 people but the place is exactly as it was in 1865, a real cow boy town. Not quite a ghost town but many interesting characters here.
3. Sandpoint... Idaho... an interesting town in a beautiful part of America, if you like lakes and mountains this is your place.
4. Moab... Utah... if ya wannanother wife... only joking, this place is gateway to the Grand Canyon, real Thelma and Louise country here with all those rock formations and canyon tours.
5. Key West... Florida... party place central

A couple of bigger places well worth a visit are Santa Barbara... Calif... playground of the rich and famous, great party place too AND Boulder... Colorado... a beautiful place on the foothills of the rockies o/s Denver.

That Denver to Vegas trip over the rockies, following the Colorado for a long way and going through Moab (Utah) is a top trip, well worth the effort.
